I am the boyfriend in question here. No, it's not okay to feel bad about it, because 1) I have fallen for you and I wouldn't have if I thought I'd be better off with my ex. 2) No matter how much I hate the things my ex has done, there are good sides in everyone. 3) Regarding your question, I did not say my ex was good, I said that in that respect my ex had taught me something good that I will carry with me. Something that you will benefit from, too.

Guess you have to ask yourself why you felt bad. Don't know what your boyfriend said or what context the statement was made. The two of you could have been watching t.v. and he saw an event like a spelling bee (just an example) and said my ex-girlfriend was a spelling bee champ. If it was in that context he's making conversation. If it hurt you you should compose yourself and let him know you are looking forward. All ex's have something good let's leave that in the past.
If you felt it was vicious and he made a comparison like....my ex was a great cook (after tossing your food down the disposal), or something similiar then you are dealing with a child. If you want to play games continue to invest in the relationship. If you are looking to grow...move on.

I think it depends a lot on what it is. If he would tell that in a way that it compares something about her to you and he mentions that she is better in some point...that sucks and it is not a nice thing. I would definitely feel bad too.
I think no matter what it is, if he says something nice about his ex you will wonder why he says that. So at best it is not a smart thing of him to do.

Of course its okay. No one likes to hear that the person them before has ANY good qualities but they must have dated for a reason. But on the same note there is also a reason they ARENT dating now and hes with you so cheer up!

It sucks when they do that, but I would rather my guy talk openly about his past relationships than keep it to himself. At least this way I know where I stand. I know the things the he appreciates this way and I know more ways to make him happy. The trick is to remember that something was very wrong in their relationship and he is with you now for a reason. Don't be threatened by it.

No you can feel bad about it that is ok. Was it something that maybe you could learn about him from that statement like something that he liked? Otherwise at a different time you could say that you really love him but that you get upset when he talks about his past relationships. I don't bring up mine to upset you could we come to some sort of understanding about this?

its ok if he says something good about his ex, as long as its in good taste. it dont mean he likes her better or she's better than you. there are things about some people that other people think is a good trait, that dont mean he has "those" kinds of feeling for her. if she wasnt his ex would his comment about her still bother you? it bothers you because they were together at one time and you think some feeling might still linger in his mind. dont over think this and convience yourself of your fears. i think we all tend to do that . but dont cause yourself grief over this!

i would blow it off because he just wanted to get a reaction from you. A guy does not like a girl who is insecure. i would not be worried about an ex because she is an ex for a reason.

I don't think anybody like to hear something like that, but you need to sit down and let him know that this offends you and you wish for him not to share that with you. Because it make you feel uncomfortable.

My husband and I do not talk about our exes. We did when we were dating however we never got into the details. Frankly, I don't care and neither does he.
