I am interested in helping others and I believe that I would enjoy entering a program on the lines of the Peace Corps. I have a three-year-old daughter that is with me all the time, so it would be imperative that she be able to go with me. I think it would be a wonderful experience for both of us. I would be curious to know if there is program on this order that allows US citizens to help others in our country that are in need.

It depends on your skills.

If you are a plastic surgeon who can repair three cleft palates a day, and are willing to work for a tenth of what you could make in the USA doing breast implants and tummy tucks, there are a dozen organizations that would leap at the chance to have you.

If you don't have any particular skill, but would be happy to help out, then, harsh as it seems, it would be cheaper for the organization that needed orphanages in Peru painted or meals cooked for the homeless in Hong Kong to hire someone in Peru or Hong Kong to do it, than to teach you to speak Spanish / Cantonese and fly you there.

Charitible organizations. NGO's, aid organizations and other volunteer organizations have limited budgets, and they have to get the most they can out of each dollar.

I think some church groups sponsor adults with children. Ask around about their missions.
