it's so alarming, it never is that dark, but I get fooled every time....

WHEW!! It looks GREAT!! Dark red brown. Never fear, I threw caution to the wind and did my eyebrows too. i really live on the edge, doncha know.

Because it has to oxidize, in order to reach the correct colour level.

I can't answer your question because I've never colored my hair, but I imagine that would be very scary...lol. One time, I combed some peroxide into my hair, then went out in the sun. After I did it, somebody told me my hair would turn white, but all it did was make my natural reddish blond highlights show up more in my brunette hair.

yeah. it happened to me when I lightened my hair. It was this freaky orange color...I almost died. But after a few hours it was okay.
I hate that!
