depends on age and experience of your sitter.

i started out at 5 an hour when i was 12/13.
I am soon to be 18 now, but I graduated
high school at 16, and have held several nanny and
public school positions since, not to mention
am currently enrolled in 3 ecd classes.

a reasonable base rate these days is 6 dollars
an hour for the average family with no
more than 2 children. Those who are CPR
and first aid certified usually earn more.

babysat 2 children
last night ages 6 and 9, and very happily
recieved 10 an hour, without any pre-negotiations.

just be open with your sitter
and discuss terms ahead of time.
we're usually pretty flexible.

good luck with the lil ones ;)

Five bucks an hour would not be unreasonable to expect now a days. But if you are a graduate of Early Childhood Education then think you could go for possibly 10 - 15 bucks per.

It depends on a lot of things. Usually I would charge more for overnight than just for a couple hours. $5/hour sounds good, although more and more people are paying more, so you might have some competition. Ask the babysitter what s/he normally charges.

I'd say $8/hr. I babysit and I charge $7/hr (for one child) + $1 for every other child.
