Totally agree but the problem is that people who are closed-minded are generally not aware of it. People in general tend to believe that they are right because we don't like to be wrong and if anyone offers an alternative viewpoint, we have a natural tendency to reject it.

The one who is telling you not to think or question is usually the one being served.
This is how religion keeps people from applying the scrutiny of logical thinking to the nonsense that they are told about God.

I agree. I was raised in a church that was very closed minded about "evil" outside influences. When I got older and more educated and my mind opened as a result of the classes I chose to take, I realized what a disservice that church was and is doing to its members and got out of that church.

If everyone was open minded, then who would serve as an example to the rest of humanity who wants to better themselves?

In my humble opinion, i think religion is served by closed mindedness. if all these zealots on here started thinking for them selves, their shepherds( the church), would loose there sheep ( baa- baa), and that would be a sin. ( hahahaha).
I think system of a down summed it up for religious nuts the world over when they said " free thinkers are dangerous!!!"

Preachers who like to keep their flock and earn money.
Haters who can't see past their nose.
Generally people who put down anyone who is different from them. The ones who are served are the ones who lack self-esteem, self-confidence and wallow in self-pity and hatred and self-loathing.

Closing your mind makes life more simple and more satisfying. These people need others to reveal their own strength.

Agree. It is one thing to hold ones ground on something, but unless you KNOW what you believe, you had better listen to opposing views and be prepared to answer/dissect etc cetc
