My dog has been limping a lot lately. She doesn't seem to be in any pain though.

Try Nutro Natural Choice Senior food. It has much more glucosamine and chondroitin in it than any other brand. It is the best food I've ever had my 10yr old lab on and he is acting like a puppy again.

It never hurts to have your dog looked at by your vet again just call and let them know whe is limping and te arthritis appears to be worse. You can try Glucosamine Geri Tabs or Metacam. You will need to get this from your vet. The Metacam works really good but is very costly. When your dog is sleeping put an electirc blanket on low under her bedding. Just like people when the weather gets colder the joints hurt more. Also ask your vet about asprin once a day to help out.
I work in a vets office and this is the route we would take.
Good luck

I assume since the dog has been diagnosed by a Vet then they should have given you all the details, medicine, etc.

My dog is old and has arthritis. I feed her soft food only. A nice big comfortable bed to sleep on.

Some dogs are very stoic and you can be sure if she's limping, she's in pain. My bearded collie had arthritis at a pretty young age and the vet put him on Rimadyl. It totally controlled the pain - he played like a puppy for years after getting arthritis. He had no trouble with it, but I know it can have some bad side affects, you need to talk to your vet and follow his recommendation for your dog.

Make sure she has a nice soft place to lay or when she sleeps, and when you notice her trying to get up, if it looks like she is having trouble try and help her out. Give her a little lift, so she doesn't put all her weight on it. There might be some other things that your vet can suggest, if you walk her, don't take her on too long of a walk, becasue she will get worn out easily and her legs will hurt a bit. Hope this helps.

Buffered aspirin will help with arthritis. Make sure that it is buffered... very important. Also, make sure the dog has a cushioned bed to sleep on and keep the dog warm.

Exercise is very important for an arthritic dog as well. Make sure that it is not too strenuous though.

I have arthritis in all my joints. I decided to go a natural route to feel beeter (since meds didnt help at all) one of the things that helped me the most was not using tap water anymore....I buy only spring water, and this is all I let my pets drink now too. it cant hurt to try it.
The one time I did give my dog tap water he ended up with a UTI. NO MORE TAP WATER for us!...

Good luck...I know how your poor pup feels

Try gloucosiamine supplements. You can get treats with this, or even dog food with this already added. Or you can just get a powder to put over his food or a tablet. Does he have a heated bed? That is also supposed to help. Hydrotherapy is really good. It allows the dog to exercise without putting wieght on the joints. And since most dos love to swim, its a real treat for them. Good luck.

My vet has told me I give my 14 year old dog baby asprin. Just in the morning. And it really helps her. The other drugs are very expensive so the baby asprin works great. We have had no problems with it. But check with your vet first before trying this.

Have you taken your critter to a vet?????? And do you have a positive diagnosis? If so,there is one rather good pain med. Rimadyl. And you don't have to pay his prices. He is required to give you a script, and you can get it for way cheaper on the web. Google pet pharmacy, Petmeds.com and others. Don't give your dog aspirin or tylenol or motrin -- they are extremely sensitive to those drug, and could kill them.
