First of all, many things can contribute to blood clots, but getting one is not very common. Some people are prone to them, or are on other medications for some other type of problem that can cause blood clots. But your age or if you are over weight, can be contributing factors...
The doctor can run a simple blood test called a "pro-time" (he may also want to run a comp/lipid and cbc) if you feel you are at a higher risk, or just for peace of mind. But sitting all day without moving your legs or getting up to stretch, in any profession is hard on your body. You should take the opportunity to walk whenever you can... just for your general health... and see your doctor for a check up and blood work once a year or as often as your doctor recommends.

Yes, because you are relatively immobile for long parts of the day, blood clotting can be an issue for you. You should take a break as often as possible and walk around (I know that's hard with your occupation). While you are driving, flex your calves as much as possible, to keep the blood flowing. Keeping hydrated will help also.
Also, talk to your doctor, he/she might have more recommendations for you. They might recommend that you take an aspirin a day to help your blood stay thinner and less likely to form clots, but don't take it without consulting your doctor, especially if you are prone to bleeding.
