I found tiny black worms in my garden tub. Did research and the only thing I found is they look like Anchor worms, but they are only in Alaska, in cold weather. I used bleach, didn't work, ajax worked but when the tub was refilled they were back. What is a drain worm? I only have cold water, don't use hot water in the summer. These guys are really tiny, about as long as a finger nail. Black and did I say tiny? They roll up and look like a speck of dirt, orginally thats what I thought they were, till they unrolled and wiggled. I really want to get rid of them. Went to the hardware store and that guy didn't have any idea. Water company said it wasn't their problem since it was only comming from one faucet. I called a plummer. He can't help. But he did say it might be from my hot water heater, since there is no hot water. But wouldn't that be in all my faucets in the house. Well, I think they are comming from the tub jets. Help Plz!

It sounds like mosquito larvae to me. At your local home and garden store, they have tablets for back yard ponds that will kill them. You just drop one into the water...but read the package to be sure that if you're watering plants you intend to eat...it's safe to do that. Check on the links below to see what I mean.

If they are coming from the "tub jets", I'll assume you have a Whirlpool? That's where I found some worms, too. water tends to hang in low spots in the whirlpools and is a standing water can be a breeding ground for drain flies. http://www.pestproducts.com/fliesdrains.htm

There are ways to rinse the jets out, and anywhere they sell whirlpools would maybe have some kind of soap solution. But I have used some bleach. I think drain worms grow up to be drain flies.
All of my assumptions rule out the worms coming from your water supply, which points to the drains.

They sound like mosquito larvae to me too. I worked at a nursery where they controlled them with a few drops of motor oil in the water. That's not a good idea, though. It's toxic and will eventually stink badly. You can buy relatively safe chemicals to control them. I'd check with local hardware stores. -yk

They probably are larvae of drain flies (Psychodidae). They are harmless but surprisingly hard to kill. You might try using a drain cleaner every few days for a couple of weeks.
