Cats rub on you as a sign of affection. They do rub on things for scent purposes, but typically not on humans. Thats more like furniture ot whtever.
But either way, its not like a skunk or anything their scent they leave when they rub on you isn't noticable at all. If anything you'll have some cat hair on your pant leg.

Cats just mark things are people in their territory. They have glands on the side of their face in the cheek area. You can't possibly smell it. It lets other cats know this is your cat's territory.
Cats, and dogs, have a highly developed sense of smell. Humans have traded the acute sense of smell for better vision and brain power in the course of their evolution.
The cat's anal glands are something else again. That is the worst smell in the world right up there with an unneutered male cat's urine.
By the way, "Cats and Kittens for Dummies" is a great book about all things cat. It's a handy book to have for even the most experienced cat owner. Might be available in the library and not too expensive in book stores.

Cats usually rub against you because that is there way of saying they love you. You wont smell like cat to other people. Cats usually don't leave scents. Only other animals will be able to smell it.

If you don't want the cat to rub on you, you are going to have to run him off when he starts. It's part of a cats make up. Unless he is wet or something to us there is no smell. Outside of the fur he leaves on your clothes there really isn't any smell left on you, unless like I said he for some reason is dirty or wet.
Yes he is leaving his scent on you, but it isn't something we can smell. Another cat can smell it yes, but that is because it's like an invisible code to them that there is another cat involved here.

I've never known anyone to smell like a cat. So don't sweat it.
Cats have an elevated sense of smell. This means their noses are more sensitive to human noses. The scent that they leave will only be detected by them and other animals.

The scent that the cat rubs on you isn't obvious to humans; don't worry, you won't smell. It's a way for the cat to bond with you. You can always push the cat away (gently!)

Cats mark their scent in 4 ways...
1. with their paws in act of "clawing"...
2. when rubbing their face against an object...they leave a small amount of syliva.
3. they mark their territory by urinating...
4. male cats "spray" as territory marking..
Indoor domesticated cats...
If a cat is declawed, has trimmed claws, or a scratching post,
damage to personal property can be avoided. There seldom is a "smell" from cats marking anything with Sylvia. Bigger smells tend to come from unclean litter boxes. Yuck. Indoor cats seldom feel the need to mark a home as their territory by urinating. However, that can happen if a new cat is introduced to the home. By neutering/spading your pet, "spraying" & kittens can be avoided.
Cats are independent & when one rolls around by you or comes up to rub it's body against you... that means it's being accepting towards you.

The smell is odorless to people. You are safe and will not smell like a cat. It just means that your cat likes you and feels that you belong to it. Enjoy the love!
