When you first install xp windows a dialog box pops up and asks you if you want windows to remember your search history, you should reinstall and select no when it pops up during installation. You can go to control panel-network and internet connections-set up or change your internet connection-general on tab on pop up box, and here you can delete cookies, temp files, and history. But I dont think it will erase actual search bar history, the only way I know how is to find a download on net or reinstall.

Wow you guys are cruel. All he wants is to protect his privacy, something his wife shouldn't be invading in the first place. Use this program. It deletes all of your history, cookies, temp files and everything else that leaves a trail. And the best part of it is that it's free. Not a 30day trial, free to use forever.

Also it would be smart to turn off auto complete. I'm assuming you use internet explorer. At the top of the page go to "tools" > on drop down list select "internet options" > select the "content" tab > then hit the "autocomplete" button > clear all forms and passwords and uncheck unboxes then hit ok.

This won't hide it but it will clear it!

Clear History:
Try this,

Left click on Tools
Left click on Internet Options
Left click on Delete Cookies, Delete Files, and Clear History...

If you want to avoid all of this try,

http://www.mozilla.com

and setup Firefox to remove all this stuff when it closes!

Have fun but be safe.
