No, it's not abuse because the animal is put under anesthesia and is given painkillers. It can, in fact, prevent abuse by eliminating overpopulation. It also prevents people from killing unwanted pets and keeps feral animals from starving to death by reducing the population.

I believe the reason that isn't considered a sin is because animals aren't self-aware, and their precious Mommdy/Daddy parts have a functional, rather than sacred, obligation to produce young.

As far as the abuse part, sometimes the method really is. Pigs are a great example. Their testicles are inside, and when they're removed, just the slightest wrong cut will allow the intestines to fall from the pig's body. It can be very uncomfortable and dangerous for the pig, and I wish it was more commonly done at a vet's office.

I'm not religious so can't answer the sin thing.
If people choose to take on the responsibility of caring for animals they have to keep doing it and that means thinking about that animal's life and progeny (babies). There's no getting around it.
I've seen animals badly neglected because people didn't think through "what happens next", a ***** not given enough food for herself, let alone the pups she was struggling to raise (the owner was so poor he could hardly feed himself), over a 100 gerbils (those that survived) in 4 cages fighting for survival.
Not pleasant.
I've got 3 female cats, all spayed - 2 of them were born in my house because I decided not to spay their mum, knowing she would very likely have kittens - she did and I'm glad. I had them spayed after because I knew I couldn't provide the same quality of life for any more cats.
It sounds like you're a bloke. Just check whether you're more worried about the thought of losing your own ********/fertility than the animal.

Just to be clear if you spay or nuder an animal you do not castrate them. As I understand it just the ovaries or testes are removed.

Is keeping animals in captivity against their will violating their rights?

If keeping them in our homes is okay then I would think that making it so they don't spray or menstruate is okay as well.

As far as a sin, that is between you and whatever god you beleive in.

only if you are an animal,
people unfortunately have the upper hand ,
as well as the knives

untill animals learn to talk to lawyers ,
they will be abused
,sinning has never deterred people from doing anything

especially Christians ,
who are infamous for disregarding animals feelings-
claiming that they do not have emotions
their Gods lies has a lot to answer for.

Fortunately they got Hell to take care of these people
,But I doubt it that Jehova cares for animals as well
.He Hasnt done much to protect them .
on the contrary.

Spaying or neutering prolongs your pets life. Think how nice it would be if all pet owners were responsible and got their pets spayed or neutered. There would be no hungry, abandoned, sick animals out roaming the streets suffering. Poor things. All because of irresponsible people!!!! Talk about abuse.

No. But letting them breed uncontrollably is. So many animals get put down every day because they're not wanted. Now THAT'S animal cruelty.

I believe intention is everything when appraising an action. I 'fixed' my cats so that they would not be burdened with endless procreating. I believe it helps animals live longer and healthier lives. One of my cats still has sex, she just doesn't get pregnant.

No it's more cruel to have unwanted feral animals wondering the country and cities that don't have their shots and are sick and have no homes.
