Lots of reasons:
1. You'll be able to communicate with people outside your own ethnic group.
2. It can open up travel opportunities that you might otherwise miss out on, or not enjoy as thoroughly.
3. You will get to learn about the culture and points of view. Sometimes you can learn something about the culture directly from studying the language; other times you will learn about the culture as part of your foreign language course.
4. It makes the world a smaller place.
5. It may actually help you with your English. When you realize that a certain word in english has a common root with, for example, a similar word in Spanish, it will make them both easier for you to use and understand.
6. Foreign guys are hot.
7. Looks great on a resume, and more and more, jobs are requesting or even requiring bilingual abilities.
8. If you are in business, it can broaden your potential customer base.
9. Makes you a well-rounded person.

It opens your eyes and your mind to different cultures and different point of views. Not to mention that you can communitcate more easily with people from more places, which means you can travel more easily to more places, so you get to experience different cultures, therefore opening yourself to difference and destroying stereotypes and racism. If everyone did this, there would be more understanding and less fighting.
The cause of most interracial arguments/fights/war is because the cultures don't understand each other. When you learn a language, you also learn about the culture, so you can understand the history and the people.

its very important to learn foreign languages. im only 18 and i can speak write and read 3 languages: arabic french english. with that i can go anywhere in the world and benefit from my education. i intend to learn other languages like chinese and italian and german and so should you
