THE GHOST FROM VALLEY FORGE
(author unknown)

I had a dream the other night I didn't understand,
A figure walking through the mist, with flintlock in his hand.
His clothes were torn and dirty, as he stood there by my bed,
He took off his three-cornered hat, and speaking low he said:

We fought a revolution to secure our liberty,
We wrote the Constitution, as a shield from tyranny.
For future generations, this legacy we gave,
In this, the land of the free and home of the brave.

The freedom we secured for you, we hoped you'd always keep,
But tyrants labored endlessly while your parents were asleep.
Your freedom gone - your courage lost - you're no more than a slave,
In this, the land of the free and the home of the brave.

You buy permits to travel, and permits to own a gun,
Permits to start a business, or to build a place for one.
On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent,
Although you have no voice in choosing how the money's spent.

Your children must attend a school that doesn't educate,
Your moral values can't be taught, according to the state.
You read about the current "news" in a very biased press,
You pay a tax you do not owe, to please the IRS.

Your money is no longer made of silver or of gold,
You trade your wealth for paper, so life can be controlled.
You pay for crimes that make our Nation turn from God to shame,
You've taken Satin's number, as you've traded in your name.

You've given government control to those who do you harm,
So they can padlock churches, and steal the family farm.
And keep our country deep in debt, put men of God in jail,
Harass your fellow countryman while corrupted courts prevail.

Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oath they're sworn,
Your daughters visit doctors so children won't be born.
Your leaders ship artillery and guns to foreign shores,
And send your sons to slaughter, fighting other people's wars.

Can you regain your Freedom for which we fought and died?
Or don't you have the courage, or the faith to stand with pride?
Are there no more values for which you'll fight to save?
Or do you wish your children live in fear and be a slave?

Sons of the Republic, arise and take a stand!
Defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land!
Preserve our Republic, and each God-given right!
And pray to God to keep the torch of freedom burning bright!

As I awoke he vanished, in the mist from whence he came,
His words were true, we are not free, and we have ourselves to blame.
For even now as tyrants trample each God-given right,
We only watch and tremble -- too afraid to stand and fight.
If he stood by your bedside in a dream while you're asleep,
And wonder what remains of your right he fought to keep.
What would be your answer if he called out from the grave?
Is this still the land of the free and home of the brave?

I love the poem. TRUE Americans can see what's going on and will not just succumb to the injustices done to us. Illegal people in this country are destroying it. We need to take a strong, loud, defiant stand against them or we will lose everything our forefathers fought for. I believe it is time for us to exercise our Constitutional right to 'Bear Arms". We need to force illegal people back across the border, peacefully if possible, under gun point if necessary. NO MERCY!!

LOCK 'n' LOAD!!!

Nexus- You better take this seriously, this is not a joke and it won't go away by ignoring it. Sometime it takes more that the 'right' or 'proper' way to overturn uncivilized activity in our country. No more Mr. Nice Guy. That's been tried and it has backfired. It's time to move on to the next level. Go home or die, their choice. I'm no limp handed woos who is going to just sit back and let them over run my homeland, I wil fight. I have the tools needed and am prepared for duty. Are you? I do vote and I will vote and I do write my senators and congressmen and some who represent other states as well. Election day will be the deadline. We will see. Civil War could be our futures. You might 'love' guns but do you have the guts to use one? I DO, and I WILL!

Well I think the Revolutionary War is over, and in this day and age of infill, permits make more sense than they did in the 1700's,
the whole thing is a call-out, and while the sentiment is in the right place I guess, the net result is that it's just intended to make you feel bad, and as far as defending the Constitution, your role as a citizen these days is to run for public office yourself, or at least vote.

The time of the musket is long-gone, we now live in a world where the 'villains' have laser beams on their pistols, commit their crimes in cyberspace, and the global population has literally boomed, just in the 20th century alone. Brave New World.
Common-sense law enforcement, and good border security would take us a lot further down the road to the future than teary-eyed sentiment can....

wow never would have thought...but i agree with with gokart. We are suppose to be more civilized nowadays. If we wish for change then vote, run for office,or write your congressman. All that talk about "i'm going to bear arms" is just going to end up with a lot of people being hurt and nothing truly being fixed.Or have none of us learned from past mistakes?

I do take this seriously and as an EDUCATED person I try and not let my emotions control nor dictate my actions.Fascination with guns and being trigger happy are two seperate things. You claim your ready to "lock and load" well answer me just how will you determine whom to shoot?I mean unless we all start wearing a sign that says "yes i'm an illegal" I am to assume your going to perhaps base it on skin color?Or maybe your going to base it on wether or not they speak english properly. And as i have said before do you honestly think that nobody will shoot back?People like you are what scare me,hence the NRA motto GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE ITS THE STUPID PEOPLE PULLING THE TRIGGER THAT DO IT.
