Isn't it 'false friend?'
Eg: In English 'gift' means 'a present.'
In German 'gift' means 'poison.'
Weird Eh?

Its generally referred to as a 'false friend' when they look identical but have entirely different meanings. Example "also", in German means 'thus', not "as well as", as it does in English.
