My hemingway cat just gave birth to a litter of kittens. The father of the kittens was also a Hemingway and five of the seven kittens have the trait. I'm just wondering if they are worth anything, and if so, how much?

Hemingway/Mitten/Polydactyl cats & kittens are not a breed! The Polydactyl trait can be found in a lot of different breeds of cats, but mostly in domestic house cats. And in fact, in a lot of "pure bred" cats, the extra toes that make them so unique is NOT desired and real breeders try to bred this gene out of their litters. To answer your question directly, unless the kittens are of pure bred lineage, they aren't worth more then a domestic house cat (most of these kittens are given away for free!), and more still, if they are of pure bred lineage, they're probably worth less then a breeder would normally sell kittens for (and the majority of the time, the breeder will sell these "Hemingway" kittens with a contract to spay or neuter the kitten so this gene is not carried on into another generation). Sorry, but I really doubt there is much money to be made from the kittens your cat has had. Just enjoy their uniquness and find loving homes for them.

I really don't think they're worth anything, sorry. Although it's not a real common trait, it's not exactly uncommon, either.

I highly suggest you spay your cat. There are too many unwanted cats in the world as it is.

Here's something....

Are pedigreed cats ever Polydactyls?

No. The breed standards for all CFA recognized breeds call for disqualification if a pedigreed cat has extra toes. Responsible breeders of pedigreed cats will not use a cat known to carry the Pd gene in their breeding program.

I love the fact that so many judgmental people have to give give their 2 sense. I wish that I could have one of the kittens.

Awww, I love those little "mittens" kittens---I have one myself, a stray I found and she is absolutely gorgeous! Her name is Thumbelina, and I love her to pieces. As far as making a profit...well, I don't know...I'm interested to find out.

Call pet stores. You may at least find the value.
They are an interesting breed. Might be great conversation starters for some.
