Depending on where you live it could mean the difference between receiving medication once or getting it eleven times (once in spanish is 11).

Well, like it or not, Spanish is becoming the second most spoken language in the US and it is spoken in many, many parts of the world. In other parts of the world like Europe and Asia, knowing more than one language is a given - it's good not just if you travel but in order to conduct global business. We are a much more globally connected world through the internet - it opens up so many avenues and options. Suppose you wanted to start an online business and wanted to do business with other parts of the world because you knew it would be lucrative - for example, say in South America, wouldn't knowing the language give you an advantage?

Because as more and more people that speak Spanish and only Spanish move into this country, it becomes more and more important to learn the language for communication purposes.
I know of some places (hotels, especially, but other businesses as well) that no longer hire people for upper level positions who don't speak the language because it is becoming so important to speak both languages to deal with clients.

If you live in the good old USA, it's very important. We have a large number of Hispanic speaking individuals in our society. If you can "communicate" and speak Spanish, you will greatly increase your job opportunities and pay. I'm not advocating that the Hispanic population should not learn to speak English if they wish to immigrate, but it is a fact of life, big business is willing to pay for bilinguals - just read the classifieds.

In a couple of decades hispanic people and their descendants are going to be a majority in USA, like it or not, and speaking spanish is going to be very useful then, so you can start learning now

Let me just keep it in simple words-in the next 12 years or so, the president of U.S. might be a spanish person.I mean there are hispanic people already in the White house. So this lets you know that spanish & chineese are booming amazingly.sadly i didnt choose it this year.lol. Oh & hey i personally think it is a sexy language.(if u know what i mean)
