I think that if you aren't thinking about marrying someone, you shouldn't date them, but people say that kids/teens are too young to be thinking about marriage. Then why do they date? Dating is seeing if you want to marry someone. Who agrees with me. (No mean comments please.)

But before you can know if you want to marry someone, you have to have enough relationship experience to know what you do and don't want in a partner. That's what kids get from all of that youthful dating that you seem to think is just a waste of time. And even in this day and age, some people really do marry their high school sweethearts.

Dating, especially when you are in high school, shouldn't be about finding who you want to marry. I was always told to date more than one or two people during high school because it is supposed to be about finding out what types of guys you like and what would be a type of guy you would want to marry in the future. Dating is supposed to be fun, and if you like someone than it's fun to date them, but it doesn't nesicerrily mean that you have to marry them.

I don't think that you should date someone that you wouldn't consider marrying because this means that you are settling and that he/she is not quite up to snuff. Always, maintain your standards regardless of your age or regardless of whether you truly intend to marry a particular person. This is especially important for young people.

Dating when your young is for finding what traits in a husband you can live w/ and those you can live w/out. Think of it as comparison shopping. Just choose wisely before you make your final purchase. your theory applies with the big issues like abusiveness, drugs etc.

i agree.
they probably do it for fun. or maybe teens are more emotional or whatever and they need someone to be there for them. or maybe their friends are all doing it, and they date so that they wont be the odd one out. or maybe its just the raging hormones thing.
maybe they are insecure or something.
anyway it has become the social norm. this question cant do anything to change it.
girl meets boy, breaks boy's heart, moves on to second boy... and so on.
some people just aren't looking for love.

That's what my mom thinks. But I keep this statement in mind. My boyfriend thinks I'm too much of a goody-too-shoes and that annoys him.
