No more of less than the rest of the people who have a belief system; even if it is a non belief atheist system.
I am ever incredulous as to why intelligent and educated people choose to follow something which is so unproved and appears ridicously man made. Surely it is obvious that you will believe
(and eat and speak and act) how your parents and peers do so. If someone born into a Hindu cluture suddenly started talking about a Christian belief system unprompted that would be worth investigating. I don't doubt that there may have been a very charistmatic leader called Jesus (blue eyes, blonde hair, white skin like in all the nativety plays and films? I think not....) who in a very superstitious and fearful times wanted to inspire - all laudable. But what we call the ' bible' is known to have been hugely edited and changed over time to suit the politics of the age. Santa Clause/UFOs/ghosts/walking on water/virgin births/a white bearded anglo saxon in the sky who is watching over us?
Try asking if ' God' could be black or a woman and you just get that 'look' that you are being blasphamos.
....Life is short/sharp and unexplained so we cling to every scrap of light and optimism.
But back to your question. I don't not trust them based on their beliefs - just try not to get into pointless, never ending arguments.

No way they are being alone with my kids if i had any.
I wouldn't trust them to do anything that might require critical thought..so that rules out a lot.
I don't try to avoid them. Some of them are good people. If i hear someone who has read the Bible say... "The Bible is infallible," or "I try to live my life by the Bible." I do avoid those people..they are insane by every definition of the word. I don't totally avoid them, i just treat them like i would a mental patient who had escaped from a hospital. I would never harm them, i would actually try to help them.

I don't trust them to not trying to convince me of their believes. In my experience it's quite hard to talk with a christian without the conversation moving in the direction of god. And somehow they usually start trying to convince me they are right and that I should start believing. which I politely decline of course. I also don't trust them to have an objective opinion on a number of issues since they just quote from the bible and don't think about the issues themselves. It's not that I don't trust christians period. Although I must say I'm shocked by the number of church leaders that have made themselves guilty of child abuse. I don't think someone is bad because he/ she is a christian. I must say though that religion often means shutting people out who do not fit in exactly in what they think is right. And there's also a lot of violence and hate in the name of god. When I read answers and questions on Yahoo I feel real lucky that I'm living in Holland where the amount of christians is outnumbered by the amount of non-christians.

I am an unbelieverish person. I have a very good friend of mine who is a christian person (catholic) and I do trust her.
She deeply needed to belong to a religious/spiritual movement, and I feel released she eventually choose that regular religion instead of cults. She is not fanatical at all, and I respect her beliefs, as well as she respects mine.
She always tries to do her best, because she has a religious faith.
She would never try to convert anyone to her beliefs.
This doesn't mean that I would trust every christian person - nor that I would trust every atheistic person.

There is the old saying "never trust the people in the first three rows of church". I generally dont trust what most people say or do and keep a critical eye out for them.

its not that they scare me or anything I just hate hearing the same lines about God and such that it drives me a bit crazy. I'm not looking to get converted so I tend to avoid them for that reason. Other than that I have no problem with christians. Preach on cause I know you guys feel you have to, but when we say no, take the answer, change the subject, and we'll all get along fine.

I feel that you need to judge individuals by more than just their religion. I have some strong reservations about the Mormon church, but in general I have found that some of the most trustworthy people I have met are Mormons. The only issue I could see with them watching my kids would be that they try to teach them a little bit about religion, but this is not going to affect a child unless they are immersed for long periods of time. I believe that not believing in evolution may indicate that someone has a misunderstanding of science, and therefor you could reasonably question their ability to be a doctor or Biology professor, but you certainly cannot make it as broad as you are trying to.

I don't trust or mistrust anyone on the basis of their religious beliefs. A religion does not define your trust worthiness, your character does. I'm an atheist, but that does not mean I trust atheists either. I need to know someone before I trust them.

I have NOTHING in common with Fundamentalists, cannot respect them as people, for they lack any kind of logic and basic sanity...trust them? No way....they are about as far out on a limb as they come. I really do not even want to be around them. They are very aggressive, seem to be on the offense at all times, and anxious to convert as many as possible to thier feeble cause. Trust them to do what? Make fools of themselves..yes! Trust them to follow God's laws? NO WAY..they seem to have an "Except for me" after all of these commandements.
