I have a male friend that I meet with for coffee just so we can talk about life. relationships, work, ect. I look to him a a confidant and feel like I can tell him things I wouldn't normally say to my other friends (almost like a two person support group). This relationship has lasted for a few years so far, and throughout a few relationships. There are no romantic feelings involved and yet we have both expressed that there could be an attraction.
If you are wanting to develop a romantic relationship with her then you should pay attention to the things she is telling you. Has she mentioned the type of people she likes, is she comfortable being physically close to you, does she not talk about other guys?... All of these could be signs that she's interested in you. If you feel like there could be a possibility then I would casually ask her if she wants to go grab a bite to eat one night. You can tell alot just by her reaction to your invitation.
Going out in a more intimate setting will be the perfect opportunity for you to take your relationship to next level.
Good luck!

My opinion would be yes. You guys may be exploring the possibility for more, but the two of you haven't made the move towards it yet.
