i had some friends that visited there for 6 months to a year and they loved it! It was hard for them to get used to the "depressed" state of the country in financial terms and hope terms, but they really did like it. They even learned some russian...although, its difficult unless you live there for long enough time to pick it up.
i think the people there was what really made their trip. They got involved in a church and worshipped with the people and that really opened people up. I think in general people look down when they walk down the street and do not feel there is much to hope for as far as the future. They need bright cheerful spririted people around. Put on your best smile and enjoy it!
