What I mean is, I just created a sales invoice that I want to use whenever I enter a sale. I want to set the worksheet so the only cells that can be edited, or have data entered into are the ones that I choose. Make sense?

e.g. cell A2 says QTY:. Cell A3 is blank. I want to lock A2 so that no one can change it, but leave A3 as is, for entering the quantity of the sold item.

First unlock the cells that can be edited by - selecting the cell - format, cells, protection(blank square) - then under Tools click protection and click protect sheet, blank(uncheck) 'Select locked cells'. Only the cells that are not locked can be accessed, try it on a blank worksheet, you'll see

Sure, It is a famous feature in XL.
Now follow me
1- Select the cells that you want the user to be able to change
2- Go to Format > Cells > Protection
3- Uncheck the Locked checkbox
4- Now go to Tools > Protection > Protect sheet
5- You can enter a password
6- I recommand that you remove the check on Select locked cells from the list below
7- Now press ok, enter the password again
8- and you can select and change the "Unlocked cells" and can not select (and change) locked cells.
9- Mark me as best

You can protect cells but
before protect all the worksheet, it will be ineffective.
