I'm falling head over heels for a guy right now, and I'm freaking myself out!!!
I guess maybe I'm the classic jaded dater--I have had big losses in the past, in fact the father of my son passed away after five years of being together....That was five years ago now.
I have dated a few people, and the relationships have been less than perfect. I've been hurt.
Ok-- the point of my question is to get ideas on how to slow down my feelings..... or if it's even possible!!?
This guy is amazing, seems to be really interesed in me, and very accepting.
Things seem to be moving at a healthy pace--- except in my mind!!!
I feel like it might be innaproriate for me to be feeling sooo strongly so soon. (the relationship is only a month old, but we have such a natural connection, it seems longer..)
I feel like a schoolgirl, and wonder if anyone has felt this way so quickly, and how it turned out.
Maybe I am just putting up walls because I'm afraid of loss?
Not sure.....Input appreciated

only u know how long to grive. 5yrs is quite a while, it sound like its time for soem happiness in ur life. grab the bull by the horns. i am guessing that if ur husband that passed was such a great guy then he would want u to be happy. feeling like a school girl is a good thing for u. i know this sounds selfish, but u need to take care of u and do what it takes to be happy. otherwise how can ur life be happy and the kids can see mommy is sad. when u come home from a date with him and mommy is happy, then the kids r happy which leads to them doing better in all aspects of life while growing.
of course u have walls up thats not a totaly bad thing, just don't be to afraid to take some risks. lower them somewhat otherwise u will not get the full potential of what could possible be a lasting relationship.
i would like to comend u for what sounds like a rough life, u r strong enough to atleast think about trying again.
i wish u all the luck in the world.

I hope you don't mind a response from a man, an older one at that!!! When I met my wife, I knew after the second week that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. We dated for about six months, and were married, We had the most perfect marriage. Every day was like being on The Honey Moon with her beside me. We were married 33 yrs. She was killed in an automobile accident, in Dec of 2000. She was only 49. So to answer your question some times Love works fast. The most important thing is that he loves your son, and can accept him, and your son can feel secure with him.

Just go with your feelings. Beeing mature myself and single for a few years I know what it is like to be protetive of your feelings. If things are going well hold on and dont let go. The reward is greater than the pain if it dosen't work. Good luck.
