I've never been a fan, however my roommate has a cat that won't leave me alone. He always comes to my room (very nosey) and he rubs up against my leg. Then when I rub his back, he hunches his back up and stands high on his toes. I don't really know what that means.

Thanks Guys. Also, what if he lifts up his chin and stares me dead in the eyes! Pretty creepy

Strangely enough, cats seem to like attention from people who aren't that keen on them. They can be a bit aloof and are attracted to people who are aloof to them. They value their independence and don't like to be pressured. (sounds like men, eh?) They prefer to initiate communications. His actions are saying that he likes you and would like be friends. When he lifts up his chin and looks you in the eyes, just gently scratch him under the chin and then behind the ears., He will squint his eyes, you squint back. Try squinting your eyes at him when he stares right at you. This is a sign of trust. As long as you're gentle to him, he will be good company.

When a cat rubs up against you they are putting their scent on you. That is how they mark you. When you pet a cat they hunch their back up because they are happy.

He is showing you affection and seeking affection from you. Cats love to have their backs rubbed. They also like "scrunches" under their chin..

Cats are always curious and consider it their right to investigate people and things in their environment. They make the choice as to whom they want to hang out with, give and receive affection from.

They are not hard to understand and you seem to have "hit it off" with this cat.

The cat is happy and likes to be rubbed/petted. When it hunches it's back, it's say "more please!" The cat loves your attention!

Great answer from kitty mama. Keep your bedrom door closed if you don't want the cat to come in. He enjoys your company - you enjoy his.

that means scratch where the tail is attached to the body because cats can't reach that area very well and it feels really good to them to have it scratched.

It means he likes you and wants to be friends! He's indicating he'd like you to pet him some more.

Cats are great -- I hope you can use this experience to learn more about them. Maybe you'll find you like them after all!

You were never meant to understand cats. They are from Satan. Avoid them at all costs.

But certainly DONT make a cat your enemy...bad things will happen.
