It sounds like you went to Catholicism because you're afraid to think for yourself.

No. No one can convert themselves and no part or branch of organized Christianity can offer you a legitimate conversion plan.
The true Christan Church is a living organism of born again believers who have received the Life of Christ.
There is no group, church, program or list of doctrines that can give you Life or that has the authority to guarantee you Life apart from a Biblical experience with Christ.
God comes by calling the heart to repentance and belief in His Word. He does not call you to come to any church as stated in your question.
I think you are being honest when you say you don't have the answers. You need answers from the Spirit of Truth and not from men who seek followers for themselves.
If you want answers get out of classes, get into the Bible and get real with God.
If you stay in the class they will coach you through it; tell you that you are doing the right thing and have the right answers. If God has called you to Life you will come out of there.

Hey, it's a free country, you can do whatever you want. I suggest reading the Bible from start to finish before converting. It only makes sense to understand what you're pledging your life to before you actually go through with it.., kind of like reading a contract before you sign it, right?
Better yet, if you're in the USA, just compare the 10 commandments in Exodus to the Bill of Rights in the Constitution. Especially the first amendment, where it guarantees freedom of speech and religion.

Well, then it sounds like you just gave the answer: I don't have the answers yet and that is why I am in the class, but I am interested in the religion and do want to convert & study.
Could you be interested in Catholicism because of the tradition and ceremonies? The strive to be like the saints?

There are many religions (as an example - Gal.1:13 below, the Jews’ religion), but one faith (Eph.4:5 below).
Eph.4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
When we are baptized into Christ Jesus by the Holy Spirit we BECOME a “new creature” (2 Cor.5:17, Gal.6:15 below). We become, individually, as well as collectively, the living body of Christ (Col.1:24 below). We become the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 below, 1 Cor.1:2, 1 Cor.15:9, Gal.1:13), the one faith (Eph.4:5 above).
2 Cor.5:17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he IS a new creature (Gal.6:15 below): old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Gal.6:15For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature (2 Cor.5:17 above).
Col.1:24Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for His body's sake, which IS the church (1 Cor.10:32, Gal. I:13, 1 Cor.1:2).
1 Cor.10:32Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God (Eph.2:16 below).
Eph.2:16 And that he might reconcile BOTH (Jews and Gentiles - 1 Cor.10:32 above) unto God in one body (the church of God - 1 Cor.10:32 above) by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
Gal.1:13For ye have heard of my (Paul's) conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above), and wasted it.

I would study the History of Catholicism before I did anything. I would learn why the Christians (protestants) separated from the church. If you can, buy the movie of Martin Luther (not King).

If you're interested in it, then go for it. =] There are probably some people int he organization you go to who have went through the same phase you are at now, as well as some people who are no longer in church who know how you feel. It's okay to try something out. It's not like you have to be either 100% into it or 100% out of it.. There are inbetweens. :]

You may very well be asked why you are interested in converting, but no one would question a sincere call to faith. We are all called by the people and events in our lives. God is constantly wooing us to return to him and we can not always explain it even to ourselves. Just bask in the joy of your calling and everything else will fall into place. God bless you.

The correct answer is that learning about Catholicism is a lifelong effort and no one has all the answers (despite what some of the thumpers here claim) which is why you want to learn more.

don't lie and just be as honest as possible in all of your answers. no matter what religion you believe in the basic differences are in the various ways rituals and ceremonies are performed to honor and glorify THE DEITY OR THE CREATOR OF US ALL. can not imagine that THE DEITY OR CREATOR OF US ALL would prefer one ritual or ceremony over another as long as we honor and glorify. a church member had a tee shirt that said " GOD is to big to be in just one place. " we all liked this since the message said a lot.
