The tooth coming in is probably a wisdom tooth. It could be causing you pain because it is impacted and pushing against the tooth in front of it. Go to a dentist and have an x-ray taken. The new tooth may need to be extracted (a very common occurance and proceedure).

u did`nt say how old u r. if u r b/w 18 and 22 and its the last tooth on that side, then its ur wisdom tooth.
get an xray done.
a wisdom tooth erupting can cause pericoronitis but it may be erupting normally.
so the pain will go after sometime
on the other hand if it is erupting in all the wrong ways possible then u got trouble on ur hands.
U`ll need the advice and help of an oral surgeon.
try warm saline gargle
take a pain killer... (antibiotics for infection only under prescription)

I feel your pain! My wisdom teeth are coming in as well! They hurt like a b*t%h. Try applying some Ambesol or any other dental pain reliever. Ask a pharmacist what over the counter medication he suggests. Good luck, sweetie!
