Sometimes it's difficult to believe this, then I think of His ultimate sacrifice...

Fine. Except that whole idea that we're all such sinners that he had to do that. And I don't like what happens to people who put such value on martyrdom. Persecution complexes are a nasty head-trip.
The Hebrew word that gets translated as 'sin' is an archery term that means 'missing the mark'. That concept just seems so much healthier to me. We all make mistakes -- that's part of being human -- and we do what we can to make up for them and learn from them.
That part of Christianity is a massive guilt-trip that I don't buy.

Yes, I truly believe that. Jesus was in the very center of God's will when He came down here. He fulfilled the Old Testament prophecy but He also came here to free us.
No one forced Jesus to suffer and die for us but He he did that to bring us to faith and keep us faithful, to teach us to have a personal relationship with God. He wanted to gather all His followers from around the world and to give eternal life to all who believe on Him.

I know that god loves me so much that I get my ego/self out of the way and try not to feel a need to preach my specific set of beliefs and concepts about god. I know that the negative concepts of god where he sacrificed jesus for our sins is something that is not in line with love. I know that sin, hell, judgement, and punishment are all false images people have projected onto god.

Doesn't matter much to me because life basically sucks regardless of what you believe about God and Jesus. You can spend the rest of your life telling me about God and Jesus but until I see some results, that is all just rambling.

That's good that he does. I'm quite happy for Him. I however, do not choose to be Christian or Catholic. So I hope He understands that I just like him as a friend.
