If you read my past questions, it's obvious I have alot of stress in my life. However, I am experiencing intense nightmres lately. The themes to these dreams are not new, but the intensity is. It is to a point of it taking me several precious morning hours to recover from the residual anxiety and .(heaviness?)..almost a flashback, but nothing I can put my finger on...like the emotion/sensations are there, but rarely can I actually form a tangible memory, as in a form of a person, thing or place.
The theme of these nightmares are being utterly hopeless, trapped in a situation. My life is not threatened. But I am engulfed in hopelessness. I record some of these on paper and notice that my mother, my sisters and my ex-husband are the antagonists. I also recognize that my kids and their well-being are involved, but not certain what the danger is.
Does anyone have websites that can help me process these experiences and get a handle on them?

Hello - I do feel for you. I know what torture this sort of ongoing experience can be. ... I can tell you that there is great potential healing present in this type of situation. Your consciousness is in a state of crisis that is more likened to being on a presipice and on the brink of a major breakthrough. ......... It is important that you get the right guidance to help you work with this process you are in.
In my opinion you would do well to find a good Jungian psychologist to help you to work with your unconscious in a productive way towards the resolution you are needing.
... On a more immediate level there is a book entitled; INNER WORK - by; Robert Johnson ..... This book may prove helpful to you towards learning how to work with your unconscious in a prductive way. ...... but in addition, iif you can,.. do seek out a good Jungian therapist to help you as well.
.... In addition,... know that when you are experiencing this degree of inner stress, it is important to support your body/mind on a physical level as well. ... You may be consuming specific foods and or beverages which could be aggravating and promoting this situation you are suffering. My experience has been that people usually do eat the things that most aggravate their problem.
.... Go to the web site; www.mercola.com and type in a search for his health promoting dietary advice. It is very good information. .... Whatever you do,.. avoid sugar and caffien and alcohol like the plague. ... As much as possible, avoid refined foods and attempt to eat plenty of raw dark green veggies (such as spinach), and raw fruits and veggies - .... The kind of stress you are experiencing from these night terrors,.. creates a very acidic condition in the body. Eating the type of diet I am writing about here promotes a more alkaline balance effect within the body and will help to counteract the effects of all the stress you are experiencing, which will in turn help you to better deal with the overall problem and help to protect your health in general.
Be Well....

Sounds like you should go to a therapist to discuss your day to day anxieties. Jung studied dreams a lot and felt that dreams are a window into our unconscious mind. If this is so, your dreams are bringing up emotions that are very deeply buried. I also dream a lot and have those same type of nightmares where I know what was happening but can't really form the ideas into tangible concepts. What you are dreaming about seems to be manifestations of what is going on in your mind and you might need professional guidance to help you dredge up and deal with these issues. Good luck! And, even though it doesn't seem like it, you are lucky to be able to dream as many many people don't dream that often and more often don't remember them.

If these are growing in intensity, you really need to go to a counselor and talk this out. Don't try to self-diagnose and treat without any experience. Obviously, something is coming to a head and you will need extra support from a trained professional to help you figure this out. You don't need meds, just a good counselor to talk about what you are experiencing. Call on Monday, don't let this upset you any longer.

I'm so sorry sweetie - that has to be really scary. Before you go to bed, make sure that you fill your head with positive things. Think of the good, say your prayers, watch a funny movie. And you might want to go to your doctor because he can perscribe you meds for stress. Stress and anxiety is probably the root of your nightmares. And if you can take care of that, then it will be a lot easier. Good luck! And keep me up to date on how this goes..

1. Medication can cause nightmares, (example: clonidine). You may need the MD to adjust it if so.
2. Dreams don't neccesarily mean anything.
3. Believe it or not, it often helps if you say "I am not going to have a nightmare tonight" before you go to bed.

You need to deal with the stresses in reality first, since theyre the source of these troubling dreams.
Either join a support group, eliminate the stress, or learn new ways of reacting and coping with it.
