Between 75 and 100 is usual. Keep in mind that typically, a child may be with you not for 8 hrs (typical work day) but for 10, travel time for the parent and lunch time. Then take into account feeding, diapers if necessary, etc.

It depends where you live. In North Dakota, I paid $450 a month and she provided food and formula. I provided diapers and wipes.

I just moved to Bloomington, IL and have been looking for childcare. I've found everything from $130 a week (with only table food provided, no baby food and no formula) to $236 a week at a kindercare. That's a pretty typical price for the big facilities. I found another in-home provider at $140 a week with baby food and formula provided.

A private nanny would run about $360 a week in this area, plus a placement fee of $150 a month (or a one-time $1300 charge) to the nanny agency. I just can't afford that.

As someone who uses daycare, the more you can provide for the parents, the better. Formula and baby food provided are big perks; it's a small savings to me but it's more that I don't have to hassle with packing those things each morning too.

If you apply for a license in your state, you can get some reimbursement from the federal government for the food and formula. It's also nice to be able to advertise that to prospective clients.

Another thing that is really helpful is if you would offer any kind of extended hours. My job doesn't always end right at 5:00; if I could find a place with the option of keeping my son there until 6:00 I'd go with it in a heartbeat.

Good luck!

Omg my sister does day care......she charges 54 dollars a day for one kid......she lives in portland,or and she have about 8 or 9 kids.....she has 1 helper......But 75 dollars a week is really really cheap....you should get licensed.....I looked into sending my kids too day care and it was 200 dollars just for 1 week im in california......and the younger the child the more you charge......Call around too some child care places and see what they charge....you really need to get licensed it will help moms trust you more and you can charge more.....plus u need to get a contract drawn up by a lawyer just in case something was to happen to a kid in your care ( as long as its an accident) you will be covered and you might need to contact your home insurance provider and see if you need additonal coverage.....good luck once you get all of that taken care of your ready to go.....good luck

It's anywhere from 100-125 a week here in Miami, depends on the age of the child, my son is 22 months and still in diapers so it's 125 a week. And thats even if he doesn't go everyday!

I am in the market for childcare myself...come February anyways and I would personally be satisfied with paying the person or persons $75 a week...of course I'd love for it to be cheaper, but that's the way it goes I guess.

Are you qualified? Do you have certificates for your state? Do you have license?

Have you ever done this before? If not, think about working with someone else as well.

I would charge per hour--makes it easier for working moms and dads. Charge something like $2-3/hour for infants. It gives freedom for both of you. Plus it will appeal to parents who could use the assistance.

Define "good" childcare--ours was $3/hour and works for us because we knew we had options. "Good" childcare also depends on what you offer. Do you provide the snacks, the formula, the bottles, etc? Do you expect the parents to provide it? Do you have enough cribs? Etc.

Is that per child? Take into consideration what you'll have to pay for - food, etc. Also how much is your time worth? Another consideration is how much the parents can afford - I would go at least $125.00. That's only $25.00 a day - not even minimum wage.......

I Live in Florida and my daycare ran $105.00 a week two years ago. One of my friends has a 19month old and pay $135.00. Hope this helps (Arkansas rates about the same).

Unfortunately, the demand for quality child care is in sharp decline, as it is much cheaper to take the kids to the dog kennel for the day.
