Not just Christians, all religions encourage you not to think and just believe and conform. I don't think there is only one book that is hated or frowned upon, but most science, especially evolutionary, are fought very hard.
Giordano Bruno was burned alive in a public square for insisting that the Earth was spherical and rotated around the sun. Today the same square carries his name in Rome.
Read his story.

The Book of Enoch
http://www.ccel.org/c/charles/otpseudepig/enoch/ENOCH_1.HTM
This book was quoted by Christ and his apostles. It also discusses the Fallen Angels and their mating with women. This is also discussed in Gen. 6 and Jude, about the angels who left their former place of dwelling. Very interesting, but Xtians will "fib" and say that Ge. 6 is about the intermarriage of Seth and Cains descendants even tho the words used here for "sons of God" is "bene elohim" which is used 37 times in the Old Testament. ONLY 2 Times is it used FOR HUMANS OUT OF 37! So the ratio is indeed in its use for "fallen angels mating with women."
Also, the Book of Jubilees is interesting but it is not quoted by the Christ or his followers, nor is it thought to be "scriptural" in nature.

It is hard to advise unless you are a bit more specific.
Ceremonial magick? Witchcraft? Satanism? Occultism?
If you could clue me in I would be willing to offer suggestions.

"Conversations with God". In it, "God" lets it be known that he does not approve of traditional godist religions, as they make him look bad.
