Many cultures throughout the world have told legends and storys to teach their young values. Could the bible just be another legend created by man to teach values of the time?

The Aboriginal dreamtime has been pased down for thousands of years also from elders to elders which could also be argued as evidence to them of how the world was created. What makes the bible correct and the indigenous people incorrect?

In the teaching bible that I have. It states, during the research for the bible as we know it, it was very difficult to determine, whether the people spoken of were speaking about a God, or a King, in those days, the kings had the power of God, to the little people. In other words they had life and death power over people.

I agree with you, that the bible, was a law book, civic book, and science book for the people of the times.

Yes it was. Have you ever read the DaVinci Code? Not all of it is accurate but they raise some interesting points. The author suggests that Christianity was basically created by Constantine as a mix of the teachings of Jesus and Paganism. This was done to control the people.

People have always used religion to explain things that we don't yet understand. That is why many of the more educated (4 years of college or more) are atheists. We know that there is a scientific explanation for everything, we just have to look for it.

Have you noticed that the christians who answered are just telling you that your soul is doomed to hell and are not actually answering your question?

I don't know necessarily that the fear of God was that purpose but I do believe that religion in and of itself came about as a way for society to keep cohesion in a time when there were no governments like we have today. It's a form of societal control.

hello:}
yes exactly right >>>>>
i believe that like all things their is always a bit of truth behind the ideas ,but the bible was man written probably a book of experiences and things that were indeed profound ,but it more then likely got altered so that people in power saw the effects a belief system had on people ,so naturally they altered left out ,cut out things that would give man his true power ,if you didn't believe then they got to be all powerful by telling you that you were going to hell [even though you were already in hell ,on earth learning many difficult lessons ].
but yes to control the masses and become powerful it was a brilliant idea YES ????? ha ha ha!

No it's impossible, The Bible is our only proven record of time as we know it here on Earth. That's why the endless stream of lineage is given over and over again that only the most brilliant of scholars understand. The thousands of foretold events in the scripture have been proven over and over again to come true, hundreds of them on the exact day and time that the Bible specifically predicted. If you really ever take the time to exam the facts you HAVE to believe it's true because the evidence proves it so.

It is all a big business. Moses is the one who started it all too. If you notice no one was required to give sacrifices and gold and silver to the so called god until moses came around. I imagine that after living a kick back life in the palace and then having to be a shepard taking care of smelly goats and sheep that one night after drinking some of that homemade wine and chewing on who knows what plants maybe a poppy plant , he started to do some deep thinking and came up with the perfect dope fiend plan. He knew a few tricks and had a golden tounge and was able to convince all these people to follow him out to no mans land and there he had them so crazy that they would believe anything . Once he had them where he wanted them he layed it on them about sacrifices and kicking down with the cash. From that day on Moses had it going on. People brought him and his family food and everything else they needed. He promised them land but yet to this day they still dont live in the land of milk and honey. Supposedly God created everything out of nothing and we all came from the same couple but yet all the bible talks about is how only a certain group of people are his people. If thats the case then where did all the other people come from. Yes religion was created by powerful men who saw how weak so many people were and were able and still are able to use that fear of god for huge profits. Why one would fear god is beyond me since he obviously isnt there or has no power at all. If he was so almighty powerful then why would he just sit there and watch all those children in Africa starve to death? Why does he allow us to fly around in space especially since he distroyed the tower that the people were making in Babel etc. for trying to reach the heavens. What its ok now to fly around in space and back then a tower was a no no. Give me a break. Another good one is how people sit here and say your soul is in danger etc . Once I am dead who cares about anything else because I wont know it anyway. Once the body is dead thats it , thats all she wrote. To see you need eyes to hear you need ears to feel you need nerves to think you need a brain to speak you need vocal cords and a mouth once your heart stops ticking all those things start to rot away and you turn to dust after worms eat your flesh unless you get burnt like toast then you get to skip the worm eatting part. Obviously ones spirit or soul cant do crap for you since if you go blind does you soul see for you? No . If you break your back and have nerve damage does your soul get you up walking ? No . If you cant hear does your soul hear for you? No. So once the body is gone thats it . I could care less what happens to my so called soul since i wont feel or see or know anything anyway. I wont have a shape and neither would anyone else and even the bible says that there will be no difference is sex in heaven so you wont be running around hugging and finding old family and friends. You wont be spending the day at the park and I wont be burning in hell since I will already have had my body burnt when I died . People need to stop worring about whats going to happen after they die and start worring about whats going on now and instead of arguing over religions and who is right and who is wrong and starting wars and burning people at the stake start getting along and believe in the fact that we are here and really doesnt matter how we got here the problem is now that we are hear getting to stay in peace and allowing the planet to keep living once we are gone. You know if everyone would wake up one day and have had any type of religious beliefs wiped from their brain almost instantly all fighting would stop and there wouldnt be any more wars.

I'm sure there will be many who would agree with you, as it seems "sensible". There are those who will use religion to their own ends, but they are storing up for themselves judgement, as the Bible says.

II Peter 2:3
KJV: And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Yes, they gave something to the people to believe in that they couldn't see, that couldn't hurt them. Religion is still a controlling aspect of culture.

there are three major ways to gain control in a society. through politics, military and religion. as long as those in charge are performing their goals which allow the culture and society to prosper they remain in power. however if and when their performances start causing the culture and society to start a decline then their power declines and other step in to take their places in the culture and society.
