If you are talking about the Emperor's dishes where they had in the palace..some of them should be...Shark Fins Soup, Peking Duck, Suckling Pig which will accompany with plain rice. For normal people can be anything but most of Chinese dishes will normally been served with vegetable, meat, fish, crab or prawn and etc. ...you just made me feel hungry again.

The best chinese dish in the Far East is "fatt-thew-cheong"
which means roughly "the monk jumps over the wall".
This is a great and respected dish which involves many types
of food such as abalone, fish maw, sea cucumber, scallops,
fresh young chicken, black mushrooms, chinese white cabbage,
etc. and cooked with several chinese herbs in a large pot for about 4 to 5 hours to perfection.
This "fatt-thew-cheong" dish serves 10 persons to a large table
and it requires at least 2 days in advance order. It may cost from
USD 500.00 to more than USD 1,000.00 depending on its
quality and type of food involved.

Try a quarter of aromatic duck. You get the duck, some thinly sliced cucumber, a pack of pancakes and sauce. Wrap the pieces of duck with the veg into the pancake, dip in the sauce and its heavenly. Ask for it at MINGS DYNASTY in Bury near Manchester and its the best thing in the world.
