you don't have to lie to each other
you have to be clear whether you can see other people or not
as long as you have a long and honest talk about this new aspect of your friendship, everything is going to be OK. Just remember that before the sex, you were really really good friends. If one of you is starting to fall in love with the other, talk about it and agree to continue or not, but always be honest and give the other the chance to stop the benefits if the conditions change

I think it is something that needs to be talked about between the two parties. Neither should have another significant other either, both need to be single. There have to be rules that are set out in the beginning between both people in order for both to understand what it will involve. Like will it only be on certain days, will you both be "on call" at all times, are there things sexually that are off limits, can you sleep with other people too? All of those questions need to be answered so that each person knows what to expect, and what not to expect. But keep in mind that you or the other person might start to develop feelings for the other person, which may or may not be reciprocated. So, choose a friend that you are not very close with because this could potentially harm or end the friendship.

First you both need to be single so that you don't hurt anyone. Next, talk about it first. Make sure that you both understand exactly what is going and each expectations. I had a friend with benefits and it was nice because we talked about what we wanted and it helped me to move on and not be with someone out of desperation or being horny. We are still friends now and not a whole lot of people know about it. We went to places together as friends, we didnt hold hands or kiss in public. We were just that friends with benefits.

The most ideal situation is that both are single but happy having a good time just doing doing the hippity bippity and are friends even after the shagging has stopped.
The intention is having a great physical time with no relational strings and/or intentions attached.
Have fun.

Under the condition that neither of you allow for emotional attachments to get in the way of all the good fun! Also - as long as the benefits for both are equal. Have fun!

When you both don't have the same goals in life.
Personal habits drive the other crazy.
Lifestyles are completely different , and neither wants to change them.
However , one of the two always cares more for the other, so it rarely last very long, someone gets hurt.
The sex is usually world class though!

When both parties agree that it is just a physical relationship - to be enjoyed by both - and that there isn't any promise of a future, also that it can be over any time. It's really only for the emotionally well adjusted.

i think that depends on the personalities of the two people involved. if they are two responsible adults, i say to each their own.however i would also look at whole picture: are you both avoiding achieving true intimacy with someone else by not really having any emotional attachments? or are there more feelings there than you two are willing to admit?

When you each have a clear understanding that that is as far as the relationship will progress. If neither expects more and is satisfied with the way things are, then relax, and enjoy yourselves.
