Contrary to what many may tell you, the bible has many references that tell what death is like and what happens at death. The breath goes forth, the dust (body) returns to the Earth that gave it. Ps. 104:29 What does a person know when he dies? Check Eccl 9:5-6. There it says he knows nothing whatever, no thoughts or feelings at all. Other places it speaks of it as a sleep. What is a soul? Gen. 2:7 says it is the body or dust of the Earth, plus the breath of life makes a living soul. It does not say he was given a soul but that he bacame a soul. When Jesus comes back again, we will all go back with Him if we have accepted Him as our Saviour but those that did not will sleep on till the end of the millinium when they will be raised for a little season and then will be burned up according to the scripture. Nowhere does it ever say they will live for all eternity burning in Hell fire. For a good study on this as well as other truth check out the site below.

I'm a Christian. Here's what I know the Bible says about this topic:

1. Upon death, the life force returns to God, the body degenerates, my essence/being ceases to exist, I become unconscious somewhat similar to a deep, dreamless sleep. I know nothing. No conscious spirit resembling me leaves my body.

2. When Jesus returns the second time, if I have been faithful to Him in my lifetime, I will be resurrected to eternal life and taken to heaven. If I have been unfaithful to Him, I will continue in my state of unconsciousness for another millennium.

3. At the end of the millennium, the saved in heaven will return to the earth in the New Jerusalem with Jesus, the unrighteous dead will be resurrected, fire will come down from the sky and annihilate the unrighteous.

4. The earth will be renewed, the righteous will inherit the earth.

The concept of a burning hell with the souls of the unrighteous being tormented throughout eternity is NOT Biblical.

As for those who never heard about Jesus, some will be resurrected in the first resurrection, if they lived up to the spiritual light given to them; others will not be resurrected at all, neither in the first nor the second resurrection; only God can decide this.

I consider myself Christian, BUT truly don't care to even be in a religion. I have a spiritual connection with God that's all I need.

It all depends on the degree of negativity of yourself before you died. Some may go to Hell, some are stuck as ghost on earth, and it's to do with being negative, some think they're still alive, and are afraid to go to the light.
When you die you'll see the light, if your not negative, you'll go into the light, once in heaven you are Spirit once again. Then at some point you would receive a new heavenly body that would withstand God's glory and eternity.

If you are an engineer. Then look at Luke 16:19-31. There are only 2 places to go and are described here. Some think this is a parable but if you read closely you will see it is actually describing Heaven and Hell. Notice the stages the rich man goes through.

According to the book "Conversations with God":
Life is eternal. You are immortal. You never do die. You simply change form. You didn't even have to do that. You decided to do that, I didn't. I made you bodies that would last forever. Do you really think that the best God could do, the best I could come up with, was a body that could make it 60, 70, maybe 80 years before falling apart? Is that, do you imagine, the limit of my ability?
I designed you magnificent body to last forever! And the earliest of you did live in the body virtually pain-free, and without fear of what you now call death.
To learn more, read the book and get new perspectives of life and death.

Im christian and we believe this. Philippians 3:20-21 says Jesus will change our "vile"bodies. What will our glorified bodies look like when we get to heaven? We have some clues by noting the characteristics that Jesus' body had when He rose from the grave. Our glorified bodies will appear different. We will therefore recognize each other by the spirit. What we really look like on the inside will be apparent to all. Jesus' body could go through walls (John 20:26).It felt like ours; Thomas touched it (Luke 24:39-40). On the road to Emmaus, the disciples didn't recognize His new body and He vanished in front of them (Luke 24:13-32). Jesus even ate with His disciples. In our glorified bodies, we don't have to eat for sustenance, but we will be able to eat for pleasure (Luke 24:39-43; Matthew 26:29). It will have no pain, no sickness, no aging, no restrictions (with the power of translation), and be able to appear in different forms.

I'm spiritual and my thoughts are guided by many religions and just common sense. I think that if the"soul is eternal" then that means we have always been here, so whatever we felt like before we were born, is how death feels. What happens when we die? I guess our souls are released from the prisons we call bodies, and we go back to where our souls once came from (wherever that is). I just don't know.

Death is not the end. Death is really a beginning—another step forward in Heavenly Father’s plan for His children.

Someday, like everyone else, your life on Earth will end and your physical body will die. But your spirit will not die. At the time of physical death, your spirit will go to the spirit world, where you will continue to learn and progress.

Death is a necessary step in your progression, just as your birth was. Sometime after your death, your spirit and your body will be reunited—never to be separated again. This is called resurrection, and it was made possible by the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

the bible tells us at Ecclesiastes 9:5 that the dead are conscious of nothing. In other words the dead are in a state of unconsciousness. They are in a deep sleep awaiting a resurrection to life on a peaceful beautiful paradise earth where death is done away with. That is spoken of at Revelation 21:3-5. I am on e of Jehovah's Witnesses and if you want to learn more, next time they come to the door, ask them about it.

I'm catholic. I believe in God. I'm not quit sure what happens when a person dies everyone says something a little different. But I do believe our soul leaves our body, where it goes I'm not going to find out until that day comes, nor do I want to know. Don't worry about it. Live your life to the fullest, be kind to others, and enjoy what God has given to you.
