fictional book that other people have written for the word of god....

Why not ask him for his word yourself? He can always hear you, right?

You do not KNOW, no matter what you say, that that book was written as how the book itself say it was...why not ask god himself? I'm sure he would be happy to answer..right?

The Bible is the inspired Word of God! It is as relative today as it has always been, and God's Word endures forever.

Hasidic Jews do this really cool thing with the stories of the Hebrew Scriptures. They start with the characters and the tales and riff from there, turning it into psychology and social commentary and guidance for how to live. Needless to say, they read a lot into the texts, but they're also drawing on a tradition of commentary that goes back for a couple of millenia. When it's done well, this approach can be amazing and profound.

Judaism layers its texts on top of each other, commentary upon commentary upon Torah. It makes for an incredibly rich and on-going 3000+ year long debate on how best to live ethically. There's a lot of wisdom in that.

Apply your thoughts to other things that are equally ancient, the sutras of Buddhism, or even some of the more current texts like the Declaration of Independence. Yes, the faithful are asked to believe in stories but why should anyone want to destroy faith? Why do you feel the need to challenge people on their beliefs. It is pointless to deny that the majority of the world believe in a heaven...whether it is so to you is immaterial to others. Such confrontation over faiths is what causes bigotry and hostility and serves no purpose. So you doubt God, that should be a personal issue to you. Many Catholic priests also have doubts too, but who is to say with finite knowledge? Keep your thoughts personal and if you choose not to believe, don't belittle others for their faith.

The Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God. It's lasted for over 2000 years. I do ask Him for myself. My question to you and your fellow whatevers: Why does it matter to you so much? If you don't believe that's your right. I don't get tied up in knots and rant and rave about all of those who don't believe. Why do you get tied up in knots b/c others don't believe as you do? If what you say is true, then you should be firm in your belief and get on with your life instead of asking questions that you don't want real answers to.You only want answers from those who support your views.

I think the whole world is starting to relise what a plague these 'holy' books like the bible and koran actually are.

To answer your question, no, there is no "god" or "jesus" these are concepts that were created by mankind. So, therefore this 'jesus' you talk of, is a pigment of your imagination and can not hear you. Sorry.

Imaginary friends are not a bad thing... unless you are older than about eight years old.

I have asked God, Himself. I continue to go to Him in prayer every day. So far as I am concerned He has confirmed to me that the Bible IS His word. As such, why does He need to repeat everything to me again? He's said it once, and just like every parent, once should be enough (although it never is, and God does have to reinform those in the Bible over and over).

God hears me even when I'm not directly asking him something; He's God and He's everywhere.

The Bible provides me with direction and assurance. Prayer provides me my relationship.

The Bible is complete. Nothing shall be added to it and nothing shall be taken away until Jesus comes back. At which time ALL prophesies shall be fulfilled and that is of Jesus coming again.

If God exists, he hasn't spoken to me. I'm not concerned with whether he hears me or not. I want to hear from him, if he exists. Being all powerful, it wouldn't be much for him to spend a few minutes with me and prove that he exists. Having faith that he exists is stupid. I could have faith that Zeus exists, but that doesn't mean that he does. Prove to me that God exists. Prove to my satisfaction, not yours.
