There is elevated incidence of prematurity & intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) This produces low birthweight, maternal hypertension and preeclampsia. Other risks are 1. adrenal insufficiency with corticosteroids, 2.immunological disturbances with azathioprine and cyclosporin,
3. hyperkalemia with tacrolimus.
The long-term follow-up of infants exposed to immunosuppressants in utero is still limited and experimental studies raise the question whether there could be an increased incidence at adult age of some pathologies. loligo1@yahoo.com

just a side note: the medications can potentially harm a fetus (because the mother and fetus share a blood supply) but in pregnancy, the immune system of the mother automatically downregulates itself. this is to prevent the maternal immune system from rejecting the fetus as nonself. side effects of pregnancy such as swelling, acne and gestational diabetes can occur because of this downregulation

It's not a good thing. If your immune system is being suppressed, you will be putting it under even more of a strain to protect you AND your fetus! You could both get sick very easily.
