I'm trying to lose some weight, so I'm trying to eat healthy and cut out the junk food, but when I eat my five portions of fruit and vegetables a day it gives me really bad stomach pains, horrible gas, and diarrhoea.

What should I do to stop this from happening? What can I eat that's healthy but won't cause these problems?

Whoa.. Slow down a bit gal..
Not eating junk food is a very wise decision, but you shouldn't eat only fruits and veggies, unless IF you wanna be a vegan.
If you change your eating habit suddenly and so extremely, it'd cause you all those tummy probs. Cuz most of the fruits have this sour taste. And it's not good for your stomach because it makes your tummy produces more acid which caused you stomachache and diarrhea. And some veggies (like cabbage, lettuce, onion, etc) give you gas.

And losing weight is NOT by only eating fruits and veggies. You also need protein. You still can eat white meat such as: chicken and fish, but dun fry it cuz oil is your enemy if you wanna lose weight.
Just cook it, or grill it. And use only a bit salt. Cuz salt "tights" the fat in our food and make the body absorbs fat.

Change you eating habit slowly, so you'll give your tummy and your body time to get used to the new food.
Just larger the portion of the fruits and veggies every week. And after some weeks, your body will get used to it, and you wont get those probs anymore. Then you can decide if you wanna eat only fruits and veggies, or with white meats.

Hope this help you. Good luck ;-)

PS. The best fruit to help you to lose weight is PAPAYA. It helps your digestion to work better, it helps you to "go to toilet" regularly. If you dun like the taste, you can add lemon juice on it, or even with a bit sugar.
I always make juice outta it :-)

Eat several (5-6) small meals a day...your body will burn calories faster and build your metabolism in a short period of time.
(eat about every 2 hours)
The first 8-10 pounds you shed is water.
Meal suggestions:
piece of fruit
string cheese, summer sausage, cottage
cheese/yogurt
tuna/turkey/ham sandwich (lettuce, tomatoe optional)
soup
raw veggies
boiled eggs
Always eat a good dinner...meat, potatoes/pasta/rice, veggie...your body needs carbs, protein and vitamins to stay healthy
Drink plenty of water
Drink milk or juice/water with every meal (no soda pop)
Stay away from munchies, fried & fatty foods.
Cardio exercise is great, but most people don't continue for an extended period, do "daily" simple exercise like walking/hiking, biking, swimming are low impact, play games like basketball, baseball, or volleyball, they will help to lose weight, tone your body, make new friends and you'll have fun doing it.

Your body is already cleansing itself, you shouldn't need to do any other cleansing.

Berry fruits, are the worst about causing diarrhea. That is because for the berry seeds to germinate they must pass through a birds digestive track to germinate and they cause the body to expel them. Cut down on your berry fruit might help the stomach cramps.

Onions and beans cause gas, though healthy for you, they do have side effects.

If you diet allows rice, this is a diet that helps with diarrhea, it's called brat diet, and is used short term bases for children that are suffering from diarrhea, Bananas, rice, applesauce, and dry toast.

Are you getting a good balance of vitamins along with carbs, proteins and healthy fats? That's a healthy diet. Check out self.com where they talk more about diet and exercise. In the meantime, try beano? Also, you might have something like malabsorption - look it up on webmd.com. I think it's where certain veggies upset your stomach but others don't - you have to figure out what works for you.

have you thought about taking acidophilus? I started taking it daily and I don't have problems anymore, except when I have soy or onions but then I think I may have an allergy to those. :)

Try colon cleansing (tablets you can get at a health food store). It helped me out too.

I had this problem too, but it goes away when your stomach gets used to the good food.
