What I mean is, if you're religious, and you are not acting like a SAINT, do people ever judge you and tell you that you're not a real (insert religious path here) because of the way you're acting? I don't mean things like murder and stealing and fighting. I mean just little things. Little quirks that us humans do.

By the way, when I say religious I DON'T mean Christian. I mean religious. Some of you are assuming I am Christian, and I am not.

It is much easier to judge the behavior of another than to examine our own.
People tend to act shocked when I show anger or sadness. Yes, I am judged. I am the first one to remind them I am not exempt from those emotions, as humans none of us are.

Our differences or uniqueness or individuality makes us human. Our good choices and our bad choices develop us into who we are. Hopefully learning that our choices have conscequences, good or bad.

Every child born of God is a saint or holy. God commands us to be holy because He is Holy. Holy means praying to God & following His directions. Renewing our minds with the Word of God. Being renewed in the Holy Spirit. Etc... Keeping self from sinful living. Loving God & loving others. Also, walking in forgiveness.

There are religions or nations out there that believe others are inferior because of their color, religion, ethnicity, poverty, etc... And some don't consider others human.

The LORD God of the bible loves everyone. It is God's will none will perish and all would have ever lasting life.

After reading some answers. "Holier than thou" is really religious pride. Religious piety. Osama Bin Laden is an example of this sort of pride. Being Holy or a Saint really is just being cleansed by the Blood of the Lamb. Not by works should anyone boast. The fruits of faith, love, hope, patience, joy, etc are seen in someone who is maturing in the LORD. God's love is immediate. But people need to renew their minds in the Word of God & refresh in the Holy Spirit. Every christian is a baby christian at some time. Babies need the milk of the Word. Then the bread. More mature christians can eat the meat. And sometimes they stay a christian baby for a long time.

yes and i remind them that while I am trying to live a life that is pleasing to God, I am still a sinner, just like everyone.
The difference of course is that most of what I do now is UNINTENTIONAL, and I will immediately apologize and ask forgiveness for my transgression - whether I think the offence was there or not. If someone is offended by me or my actions, it's my job to ask forgiveness, as I do not want to cause anyone undue grief or the opportunity to sin themselves. Most non believers are flabbergasted by that idea, and believe me, attitudes change pretty quickly towards me and my beliefs.
Christians today must embrace the basic tenet of their faith, and that is to love one another as they would be loved.
My sister once asked me what right any religious person had in pointing at her and telling her she was going to hell, and I replied that if anyone did that to her, then they were wrong for doing it because no-one has the right to judge except Jesus. I apologized to her on their behalf. She had been ready for a battle, or at least a spirited debate, but what I said shocked her - she had never heard that before. It changed her way of thinking about Christians and inadvertently helped her to understand that in her own way, she was judging Christians in return.

It's done on this site all the time - by believers and non-believers. It is assumed by some that Christians aren't allowed to have fun. My fun is camping, backpacking, and mountain biking. I'm pretty sure none of those activities are sinful, but because I spend money on backpacking gear, I'm judged as a sinner. I should be using all of my money to feed the starving children of the world.

Good question and I think it does deserve a good answer. I am assuming that you used the word human to mean humankind OK and I will answer accordingly. [P.S. I rated your question as good]

I personally see that a door or a gate does allow traffic to go both ways. That means one can come in by the door or gate and one can go out by the door or gate. I do not find too many others who do not see this fact, but I see many who fail to put it into practice when it comes to the views of others and themselves. Too many see themselves as right. perfect, and truly the perfect gift to correct all the errors in humankind. Thus their total goal in life is to make all other to think as they think, see as they see and to act as they do expect one to act. They fail to even consider that each humankind is unique.

With that view they are hell bent on making the world a perfect place which will only take place if everyone else is a xerox copy of them in pure perfection [in their view]. Well maybe they will allow one flaw if they are selling some makeup or asking for a donation to preach a sermon ha ha. But then immediately they will tell your that for a price they will sell you the perfect make-up to fix the flaw or preach the sermon to fill you with what is missing in your knowledge or understanding.

In my personal view most just want to place all other on the level they do chose for the others and pay no attention to their own level. What I am saying is most look out to fix the acts, actions, thoughts, way or life etc., etc. of the others but never take stock to look at themselves. Such is because they see that their door or gate is only for them to see out but no one can see into their innate nature or being.

Yes my friend, life is funny, people are funny, and right here on Yahoo relifion and spirituality Q&A is a big center for the funny people - even me included OK. Yes I am a new guy but a daily visitor. I like to smile, laugh and learn so I just take the knocks whenever I do ask and I wait for the comments whenever I do answer. It just part of the game of life. Ha ha And from my experience that game is very seriously played here by a lot of people ha ha.

So Please just take it with a smile and do not get too unhappy and do keep asking questions so I can answer some more my friend. its ones like you that help to make my day complete.

Interesting question, wytchgypsy.

The Holy Bible does tell us that "we will know them (Christians) by their fruit". What that means is if we (Christians) are not displaying the deeds that Jesus Christ told us we should exhibit we aren't in the fold.

Granted, Christians are not perfect, their whole life is a work in perfection in the process. Some change faster then others. All Christians are at different levels spiritually.

I understand your question, as people often 'expect' all Christians to be 'holier then thou' but we aren't, we still deal with sin but our desire is to be pure as Christ was.

Oh yeah sometimes. But I am real outspoken(now that I'm over 40) about being a sinner and needing The Lord to help me work out all my issues and deals.

I figure that it is good for them to see that God accepts them even if they are sinners cause that what the whole thing is about isn't it. Jesus didn't come to save the Righteous.

If we all tried to live the best way we can (spiritual) despite our human failings, then the world would be a better place.
I cannot stand extremists in man made religions who sit on their high horses and judge.
Believe me, despite what we see on TV and newspapers, there are a lot of what I call 'unsung heroes' in this world who do good things for others quietly, claiming no credit.

we all have human traits and are not infallible. each and every mortal has their own ideocyncries which would offend someone else sooner or later. we are individuals and have certain " quirks " which can drive others to question one's sanity so to speak. realize my quicks and ideocyncries are mine and no one elses. free will was given us by THE DEITY to allow us to make certain choices as we journey through life. be thankful for your individual differences for this makes you entirely your own person because there has never been nor will there ever be anyone EXACTLY like you. enjoy your life

We all fall short, each day I feel inadequate to do what I know Christ would have me do, that's why I begin each day with prayer and ask Him to help me to be what I need to be. You don't have to be a saint to belong to God, and you don't have to be one to be used by God. Scripture gives us a lot of hope, If David was a man after his own heart and David committed murder and adultry and God still loved him, I think we can make it no matter what shortcomings we have. I hope this helps you with your faith and may the Lord strengthen you to be what He desires of you. Step by step sister, it will be alright.
