Pasta and potatoes I don't picture going well together. Especially since they're both starches.
You could try Gnocci. Potato pasta. Best of both worlds.

If you have a weight problem, go easy on them but they are excellent foods. You should use whole grain pasta.
I love potatoe salad, eat in moderation tough:
Hearty potatoe salad lunch:
4 medium size baked potatoes that are now cold
1 green onion finely chopped
2 tablespoon of chopped fresh parsley
1 medium grated raw carrot
4 hard boiled eggs
5 tablespoon of mayonaise
salt and pepper
serves 4
Veggies on pasta
1 medium eggplant
1 medium zuchini
1 big red bell pepper
1 medium onion
4 cloves of garlic
Peel all and slice all, lay it all on a cookie sheet
add a bit of salt, put it in the oven at broil for about 10 minutes, turn them over( carefull not to burn yourself) and leave another 10 minutes.
When cooked, let it cool off, cook your whole grain linguine pasta.
Locate the 4 garlic cloves and crush them and mix them in your vegetables in a large bowl, drizzle about 4 tablespoon of olive oil an and 1/3 cup of tomatoe juice on them. Mix well and serve over pasta with a bit of real parmesan cheeze, the kind you grate yourself is best.
I reccomend a glass of italian red wine to go with it! Superb!
Makes about 4 servings

I love both of those foods! Since they are starches, you will want to add a lean protein and vegetables to your plate. Try grilled chicken or fish for the protein, and any of your favorite vegetables.
For the pasta, use lower calorie sauces (stay away from anything that is based on cream and butter). Try a tomato sauce that is packed with fresh tomato, onion, spinach, and mushrooms. The beauty of pasta is that it goes with just about anything! Just make sensible choices and it will make a great meal.

I had a baked sweet potato with a 1/2 cup of fat-free cottage cheese for lunch yesterday. It was great! Sweet potatoes are so moist they don't need any fat added to them to make them palatable.

Gnocchi is the right answer for what you are asking. If you are trying to gain weight ( fat weight ) but if you are trying to maintain the weight you are at or lose weight I wouldn't suggest combining the two alot.
