LOL, I know what you mean.
Well I only know that the US gives it tax exemption status after a very odd and long battle with the IRS... Rumours have it that they hold something over the IRS esp. as they infiltrated all the offices in Operation SnowWhite...
Here is a look at the Co$ and the IRS
http://www.lermanet2.com/cos/irs1.htm
I can tell you for certain that these countries don't.
UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Greece, & Russia
The UK last denied them charitiable status in 1999.
I don't believe scientology should be a religion because it is a global scam that hurts people, their lives, their bank balance, their families, and even kills people. http://www.whyaretheydead.net
The used the religion angle to defer critics and get tax exemption. Hubbard was a conman through and through.
Well let's hear it from the man himself LRH.
"Scientology...is not a religion."
- L. Ron Hubbard, CREATION OF HUMAN ABILITY, 1954, p. 251
http://www.clambake.org/archive/infopack/5.htm
Let me repeat for those apparantly unaware, scientology is a destructive cult.

Or for a more indepth look at the 'religion' of scientology:

And foxtail, I didn't think Australia gave any tax breaks, they just un-banned its practice. Can you claim tax back for course taken? I don't think so...

L.Ron Hubbard invented Scientology. He was a terribly bad science fiction writer. Many sci-fi concepts were placed as intergral parts of Scientology. The whole alien guides thing, I think it is silly.
It's like worshiping Stephen King and Carrie is the virgin mother, Cujo is a spirit guide, and Pennywise the Clown is an angel. When you die if you are bad you go to Salem's Lot but if you are good you go to Castle Rock, Maine.
Hey....I have a new religion, any one want to get baptised today?
But really, all religions have quirks that can be made fun off. I just don't like Tom Cruise using movie promotion tours as Scientology promotion tours. I like movies, I don't like Scientology.

Scientology is not recognized by all nations as a religion for tax purposes. Many consider it to be a cult.
I suggest you start by reading the Wikipedia article linked here, and follow some of the links at the bottom for more detailed information.

Perhaps you mean scientology of Hubbard?Though not a religion it is an applied philosophy to promote personality and self -confidence.It is gradually gaining ground since it follows dianetics-a spiritual healing technology adopted by some churches. It should not be mixed with tax as no concession is available at present

Yes it does and I'm sorry to hear about your high blood pressure. Don't forget that Buddhism also qualifies as a religion and Scientology is not that much unlike it.

it is a religion, its headquarters are here in Clearwater, FL and we see them all the time smartly dressed walking to their buildings. And whilst I do not follow their beliefs, they are not killing people...or sexually abusing people...or having multiple partners like some religions; I think they are harmless. People will always be scared of something new, instead of looking on the bright side. The scientology buildings are beautiful as it is a wealthy religion. They aren't hurting anyone, so who cares?

It is here in Australia...It was declared officially a religion here after a battle in the high court - which found that the state bans on it were un-consititutional and that the decision cleared up "one of the most embarassing chapters in Australia's history" - The Church of Scientology is actually quite revered here in Australia after they un-covered Chelmsford Hospital's damaging history!

Scientology does qualify as a religion, as far as taxes and all that I don't know. I so know that people with money are the usual people that believe in it.

apparantly in order to qualify a "religion" there must be a building or worship. i think. but i hear that scientologists don't like it being refered as a religion, and want the governments to DISqualify it as a religion, so that Americans can be told about it in schools. but as far as i can see, and set of beliefs which one lives by, and looks to some other-worldly power for guidence is a religion. so i think so yes.

Unlike all the major religions, Christianity Islam Judaism Buddhism, you have to pay money to get to know the secret tenets of this faith, there is no book freely published like the Bible, Koran etc. to learn what garbage these people teach so in my eyes no it doesn't qualify.
