If you are talking about "do i look fat in these jeans?" then I think that honesty is over rated. I think that honesty plays a good role in any healthy relationship. Sometimes honesty hurts and one should be aware of that.

Honesty is being able to confide when troulbes hit, telling them things that you dont tell other people. trusting them. Honesty is a major part of a healthy relationship. If you lose honesty, you lose trust, understanding, sharing, and caring. Trust is having that feeling that you can tell your loved anything and they are not going to run around town with things that you have told in confidence.

No I do not agree that honesty means telling the other person everything----especially about your past, your family or your friend's lives. Some things are best left unsaid or undiscussed....especially if they bear no consequence on your relationship.
It does however mean not lying about anything, not breaking trust, not being unfaithful or insincere. It means not spinning webs of deceit, embellishing the facts or passing the buck.It involves mutual dependence, reliability and accountability in your union vows to each other.

Honesty, respect, faithfulness, devotion, unselfishness. These are the key elements to a meaningful relationship.

Honesty is being open about who you truly are, your intentions with that person, and openness about where you want it to lead.
