do hwk together and maybe practice his hwk together and tell him to focus on one word or letter in cursive or whatever and do it over and over again and encourage him to ask adults or others for help when he is stuck, and u make a good impression on him. for math, do the same math as him and ask him math questions like 3-2= but put it in a sentence like if u have 3 apples but i ate 1 and u ate 1, how many are left? i hope this helps, good luck

Well, I think first you need to learn how to properly form a sentence. "I want to help my brother to be smart in school. How?" Is not a good example of proper English. You should have said "How can I help my brother perform better in school?"
Another Example; "Especially with cursive." is not a complete sentence. This sentence has no subject! I don't know how old your brother is or how old you are for that matter but this is fundamental English that should be taught to students at an early age.
If you want your brother to be successful in school, I would first try setting a good example at home by forming complete sentences in your every day language. The more he hears it the right way, the better understanding he will have of how the English language works. On the other hand, when he hears you and others use poor English to communicate, it confuses him when the teacher is trying to teach him the right way to do it.
As far as spelling goes, most students who have trouble with spelling tests can help themselves with a little extra studying. Try turning his spelling list into flash cards and practice with him at home. Make it fun for him by giving him prizes when he does well.
Remember that you are setting an example for him so if he sees that you are working hard to get your good grades, he should be willing to follow in your footsteps.

Studying together may help, but, since we're not sure how old he is, it's a little difficult to tell.. He may actually resent your help, depending on your approach to helping him.
You could say, listen, would you like me to help you improve your scores? If he answers yes, or, well, I guess, then you can sit down with him and see just what kind of help he WANTS... It's not always easier having an older sibling who is a straight A student, because all his teachers, if they had you, are going to be comparing him to you, and that means, if he doesn't do as well, he WILL wind up resentful.
Just try to be helpful, without being pushy..
