I'm seriously considering going under the knife to straighten my legs. I'm not tremendously bow legged, but I believe it is quite obvious. I'm only 20 but being bow legged has always affected me. Only those with the condition will know that it's easier said than done when people say "be happy with yourself". I've reached a point whereby I know I must do something to correct my legs. For those who've been through bow legged surgery, do you think it's worth it to go for surgery? Are there severe post-surgery effects?

I knew one who did surgery to correct bow leggedness but he underwent surgery at younger age.I have no idea of how he looked when he was a child as I knew him as an adult and a professional worker. It did very good result and I can say it is really worth. I have known him well as he was along the neighborhood 15 years back. There was no any post-surgery side effects for him except for a mild defect in his walking which doesn't look any bad at all. The way he walks was just like his legs are too heavy that he bears extra weight upon his toes but it is not beyond the normal limits. Upon looking at him you will never know that he was once a bow-leggged.
One important thing I would like to emphasize though is that as far as what I know, the success of surgery for correction of the bow-legged is higher if done at an earlier age. I am not discouraging you but its up to you ta take the risk .
