Do Americans forget that many of their own citizens are Muslim?

i find it quite ignorant when some peole go on how about they need to nuke the mid-east and south asia to get rid of islam.but do they realize that there are muslims in their own country(2 million to be exact and still growing)?

iam muslims and a pure bread american.

i would also lik to ad that the majority of muslims in the usa are white and black.and most of them have converted to islam ny thier choice.like my parents converted to islam.

No, the ones who think that Muslims should be nuked or are bias towards Muslims are ignorant illiterates, most Americans are proud of Muslim sports figures like, Muhammed Ali, Hakeem Olajuwon, Karim Jabber. Nobody should discriminate against the followers of a religion just because someone calling himself a follower commits an act of insanity. The people of Japan were nuked by Americans yet they do not hate Americans and are trading with Americans so are the Koreans and Vietnamese.
We took the land of Indians and sent them to reservation yet they do not hate us.
Even the blacks Americans were made slaves to the white man and were called apes yet they do not hate the whites, and they are as good of Americans as any white man.
May be later in history people will learn to accept the reality that faith, race, color has nothing to do with nationality, we all belong to different faiths, different origins, different race but we are all Americans.

No, I haven't forgotten there are Muslims in America. I do find it strange though that, for as many as we do have here, most are silent on the things that have happened. They mostly complain about how everyone else is talking about what the Fanatics in their religion have done. How unfair that we speak out against it, in the general sense. I will admit that generalizing all Muslims together because of the Fanatics is not right... but I don't see anyone really trying to correct that either. Correct it in the sense of Moderate Muslims actually speaking against Fanatical Muslims. Even the Christians will say something like "According to our Faith, they are not "True" Christians." Now, as annoying as that line is at times, at least they show they don't stand with the Fanatics in their religion.

As a born again Christian, I have to say that I have never said we should nuke the mid-east. God wishes for us all to be saved, if we killed everyone, then they could not be saved.

With that said, there is defense and wars can be fought, but those are mainly related to secular politics and not religion. The main issue with respect to religion I see is that the terrorists are using the teachings of Islam to attempt to forcefully convert the world such as they did with those two journalists who converted at the end of a gun. This also happens at the national level as well. There are many stories I can relate where some countries with the national religion of Islam persecute and kill those who are not Muslim or willing to convert to Islam.

I don't understand why anyone would want to convert to this religion that breeds terrorists and has at its heart conversion by force if necessary.

So do and some don't. Personally i realize that some Americans claim to be Muslims. In general I do not have a problem with this as long as the share they same values of keeping religion and state separate. This allows all religions that do not violate the liberty of another to be freely practiced.

I don't think they forget. if you recall, right after Sept 11, 2001 many mosques were attacked and there was talk of putting Muslim people in this country under surveillance.
Many Americans are well aware they are there and they are very cautious when they run across those people.
the muslim extremists have ruined anything positive in the minds of the American people. Perhaps it would be better if the muslim religion died out or changed its name to be different from those who mean harm.

Of course Islam has adherents in the USA; the USA has everyone and everything: But they don't have The USA under their law like the mid-east does. We are free here to say Islam is a false religion without the government putting us to death, beating us, imprisoning us or all of these terrible things.

Americans are fair to people. If you are nice. they are nice..what is important is that muslims in america remember that they have been allowed to live here freely, which is something christians, or other groups, cannot do in their countries. My impression of muslims here is that they support many anti-american and anti-Israel sentiments. The goal of Islam is world dominion under islam.... americans do not want islam to rule america. They want to be free to worship as they please. Feelings about terrorists overseas and terrorists coming into this country pretending to the peaceful when they aren't are understandable.

We were reminded quite harshly about Muslims living in American when they piloted the planes on 9/11. I do not condemn all Muslims but it certainly makes one wary.

Have any of the peace loving Muslims noticed that whenever they come into power,in any country, they then proceed to start killing anybody who disagrees or will not convert,or follow their dictators rule?Pick a Muslim country and you will see it's true.They are their own worst enemy when it comes to public relations.
