I have been singing since i could walk (i'd rather play piano & write my own music though). I do karaoke because it is fun : ) I find a great escape when i get into music it makes me feel good about myself. I have been going with my friends (who are very big into it). It feels good when people tell me they enjoy listening to me sing & tell me that they think i have a beautiful voice. I'm known for "My heart will go on" & "Through the eyes of love" I don't like singing the same stuff but i'm usually asked to sing these songs. The thing is now my friends are telling me i like to show off & tell others i like to be in the spotlight..and even started calling me spotlight. I found something i really enjoyed that felt good but now my spirit is broken.
~Why do people got to be so mean? I don't try to show off or to be in the spotlight. I'm never mean to anyone my friends are the ones who make fun of the singers who they think suck. I don't want to go anymore. I been telling them i'm sick now

What i meant to say is i DON'T sing the same stuff i always do different songs. I have over 100 songs i have been doing but most people seem to favor these 2 songs & always ask me to sing them. I would get bored if i sang the same songs all the time.
--My friends don't sing with me & i asked but they wont. They want to sing by their self. They usually sing the same songs in the same order every night and rarely try new stuff
...I don't run the show & can't help it when i sing & when they sing. I don't know the host of the show. He does puts me up more than them but i can't help that. I have started walking off stage when i finish my song because i do think it is unfair to sing more than 1 song at a time. He usually puts me up for a Kamikaze song i didn't put a request slip in for it to begin with.
-Thanks everyone for your kind words..

To tell you the truth i'd rather sing my original songs & play my piano or guitar...If i had to choose 1 artist i really love it is Vince Gill..He is great. I sing most all of Gretchen Wilson's songs because she rocks!

Girl don't you let them tell you that you like to be in the spotlight as a put down tell them that yes you do like to be in the spotlight because you do have a good voice and if you are being asked to sing "My heart will go on" you must be pretty damn good at it. I had the same problem, people would ask me to sing the old Fleet Mac song "Silver Springs" telling me I sound like Stevie Nicks and an old Jefferson Airplain Song called "White Rabbit" you might have heard it before "One pill makes you larger and one pill make you small but the ones that mother gives you don't do anything at all-Go ask Alice...you may have heard it anyways I got a $5 dollar tip in a shot glass from a guy one night praising me for singing it. Don't you let those girls get on your nerves or your brain you must be better than than that and you sing proud girlfriend let them hear what you got and ignore the people who obviously cannot sing. You don't hear them getting asked to do songs do you? Well then let them all have what they wanna hear and screw the girlfriends they are just jealous. You Go Girl

Don't give up something you love just because someone else is acting like a jerk about it. They're obviously jealous.
Don't sing the same stuff all the time. You don't want to be too predictable. We know some people where we go and we can tell the song even before it's being played because the person only has so many they can do. Learn some new songs. Get out there and sing your heart out, girl!!

You don't have to go karaoke club every time some one asks. You don't have to do all the the singing either. Get other people to sing or maybe help or do a duo.
Learn some other songs. Also it's the people who call you names that have a problem as they are probably jealous of your talent coz they can not carry a tune.

You know, you sound like a person that I would like to know. You are obviously gifted and no doubt your friends are jealous.
Be yourself and do not worry about idiots like this.
Develop your talents but you obviously have a good sense of humility. This does not mean you let people walk all over you but you are aware of who you are.
Good for you. I always think in such situations "Who's problem is it anyway?"

I think they are jealous of your voice so they are tryng to put you down, go again and ask one of your friend to sing with you that way they feel like there involved and then they feel that your not trying to grab all the lime light. If that fails then find yourself some "real" friends. good luck

Don't give up something you love just because someone else is being mean. Go to Karaoke, just don't go with those 'friends'. Find some new people to go with ... or go alone.

listen honey, there is an audience for every voice.you 've heard singers that you don't care for and yet they seem to have a following.there is an audience for every voice so if you really find pleasure in what you do,keep doing it.Just remember those who didn't support you when you are successful at whatever it is that you like.
