How do I fix the linkage, please? Only have Park, Reverse, Neutral, and Overdrive....Prior owner replaced transmission and now there's no LOW gear. I can shift the column to it, but it's still Drive....I also have to shift all the way down on the column, then back up to R to shift into Reverse. Still no LOW gear!

Have you had any work done where you believe that the linkage may have been removed or tampered with. As you look from the front of the car, the link. is a cable at the junction of the engine and tranny, to your right. The link has an adjustment here. It is also possible the bracket which holds it here may have been bent, hence the question, has someone been working on it in this area. Lastly, has this been a slowly occuring problem which has gradually become worse, indicating a worn bushing or bellcrank ball and socket, or possibly slippage at the adjustment point.

Under the hood, on the driverside under the air box is the tranny linkage adjustment. Remove the air box assembly and where the cable line hooks to tranny is where you will adjust the linkage. Be sure that is in park and the shifter is in park as well.
