I am sure you know how you eat and what you eat.To be honest only you can decide what will help you lose weight because only you know what you are eating that is causing the weight gain. When my gran daughter decided to lose weight she knew that it was up to her to make the changes as with anything, you must decide what you want and do that. You don't need any special diet to lose weight, you just need to control what you eat,cut out what you know to be harmful and get to walking.Nothing ,no habit is easy to break. but change is always good and you need to change what you eat.simple right?

Hi Mary, I see why there is so much confusion out there. I'm sure you have many fitness goals but lets start with the 20lbs loss. Is it really 20 lbs? Lets get more specific. Think about the way you looked when you were your fittest. What size's were you wearing? how did you feel? What number did the scale read? Now depending on your current fitness level if you lost 10lbs. of body fat and put 4-5 lbs. of muscle you would look really different.
Next question. Why is it harder in your 30's? Does your metabolism slow down? Truth is it does not, you are in control of it, but you are probably not as active as you might have been before, not eating food that support your goals and needs. These are all factors. Don't go on a diet where you lose 15 and then 2months later you have gained 20. Get informed and empower yourself. www.Results4Sure.com

Diet is not the answer. Exercise is the only way. I am 48 and just lost 40 pounds. I have tried every diet out there and none of them work. Now I just eat smaller portions of whatever everyone else eats and I ride an exercise bike 60 minutes a day. The pounds just seem to melt off. I lost all 40 pounds since April that is about ten pounds a month which my doctor says is the most a person can lose healthily

It most definitely is harder when you are over 30. I truly believe everyone is different in far as what works - but the #1 thing that will ALWAYS work is exercise - I was able to find a personal trainer for cheap, and he changed my life. He taught me how to lift weights and do core training, which raises your metabolism so you burn more calories daily - so you don't have to starve yourself but you can still lose weight. And the nice part is that your weight loss is only 2 pounds or so a week, but you lose INCHES like crazy - so you may only lose 4 pounds but you go down a whole pants size. I know it's expensive but it's worth the money - you could be at your goal size in 3 months with a good trainer!

I've lost 50lbs and honestly - it's boring.

Count your calories and exercise for 40 minutes at least 4 days a week.

Reduce your daily calorie intake to just under the recommended daily intake and work out. When you do eat - choose natural foods. Green leafy vegetables and white meats. Grill your meats and stay away from sauces because they contain lots of hidden calories.

You need to also drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

Losing weight is not exciting but if you get some good tunes going, and get excited about it on your own terms you can do it.

Companies will always find a way to make their 'miracle diet' look exciting and effective.

Just get your body moving so that you sweat for 40 minutes and eat natural low calorie foods. It's simple - but it works.

1. Do NOT start skipping meals, this will only cause you to snack more
2. Drink water, water and water.
3 Establish a daily exercise routine and stick to it.
4 NO snacks, nibble on a carrot or celery stick instead.
5 Live regularly, eat at set times, go to bed at the same time each night and get up at the same time each morning.
6 Take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk or cycle to the shops/work ( if possible)

Good luck!

(I am 37, female. I work out every day, I walk or cycle everywhere and I have the perfect weight for my height.)

i find it much easier to start on the exercise side than on the eating less side. Both are important, but especially as you age and the metabolism slows, you need to get that 30 minutes a day of sustained increased heartrate...just brisk walking is enough really...to keep your metabolism up. Once you do that, you somehow feel less hungry and more able to deal with the feelings of hunger that many of us hardly experience anymore.

Don't deprive yourself of any foods, just eat less, and try some green tea in the afternoons to deal with that time of day when you might be tempted to snack and add empty calories to your total.
If you have 'problem' foods (like, if there is a pint of black walnut ice cream in the fridge, I might just eat it in one sitting), then keep those away, but allow yourself small portions of treat foods.
With something like just 20lbs to lose, losing it slowly with minor adjustments to your lifestyle so that just portion-size is lowered and exercise is added, you can make healthful changes that
are easy to sustain.
Be confident that you will attain your goal! The psychology of it is important, I find. If you feel waaay frustrated about eating too many cookies one afternoon and thus "blowing"your diet, it's too easy to 'give up' and go back to an unpleasant relationship with food! Don't hate your food...enjoy it, and don't let it control you. Be the master of your food domain, lol, and keep the metabolism up with any kind of exercise you like that creates a sustained period of elevated-heartrate activity every day for at least 20 minutes.
good luck!

I have the same issue, what you should do is increase cardio workouts slowly. Start with half hour for one week then increase to an hour the next week and the following week up to 70 min..Also incorporate some weights in there also. Cut back on calories. Write down everything you eat and calorie count see how much you consume in one day and cut that in half. Eat eggs in the morning it is protein and it will help keep you fuller longer and has helped me eat less.

Westminster has no clue. I guess she wouldnt be chuffed if a bf advised her to shed extra pounds. If u are pleased with ways u look then balls to him and stay that way yet whilst u are unhappy (and dont be unhappy if he's the only individual to assert something) then shelter it yet in basic terms what u choose to do. Eat less fuel (in the form of food) than your body needs for energy (burning of fuel). If you do that, your body will get some of its energy from your fat (stored concentrated energy) and you will have less fat and less weight. Also if you exercise your body needs more fuel and the process can go faster. For every 3500 calories you don't eat over a couple of days the body will lose one pound of fat in those couple of days.

If you avoid things you know are fattening, read the labels about calories, and don't eat when you are not hungry you will start losing weight. You don't need a fancy diet for that.
