In my opinion A chrisitian president understands democracy
A muslim would be bound by the rules of the koran - ie there is no politics - only their religion (ie that for Islam, there is no separation of church and state)

That being said, I don't believe that it would be possible for a Muslim to even consider running in a country such as the US - the set up would seem to be very much against what the Koran teaches.

If those were my only choices, and if they were identical in every way except for religion, I'd rather have a Muslim president.

That would allow us to make peace with the Middle East, and simultaneously he would have no backing for any religious wars he wanted to start, and could not get away with pushing his religious agenda like the current President does.

Does it matter? India is one of the richest nations in the world, and we are goverened by two men who share the love of country without secular interference. Here in India, we have Dr. Manmohan Singh, as Prime Minister, and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, as President. Dr. Kalam is an Aeronautical Engineer, and Dr. Singh was educated at Oxford University, receiving a MA and PhD. in Economics. Nobody here has a problem with their religions. Our presidents are of very different religions: Sikh and Muslim. The percentage of Christians here is low, about 25% (out of 1 billion people.)

If the Muslim leader was a religious fanatic like Bush is a Christian fanatic, I would have to say the Christian president. Bush is a Christian Taliban leader and wants religion in the law. What if a Muslim president wanted his religion in the law? Would I have to cover myself? The treatment of women would not be something that I could live with. I don't care what religion our next president believes in. I just want him to keep it out of the law.

I would choose Christian because I am familiar with that religion. I know nothing about the Muslim faith. I want a president that is interested in solving problems here at home.

Mainly I would want a Christian president because the muslim president would probably tell you to do things against your religion but its against Christian religion to make other religion to do things they dont :)
