Yup, sawdust is used in the manufacture of all kinds of things. Probably the largest quantity usage for sawdust is the manufacture of particle board, a kind of plywood made by mixing sawdust with glue and rolling it out into sheets.

Sawdust is also refined to make color dyes, wood fillers, and in the extraction of turpentine.

Sawdust is no good for paper because the fibres are too short. Sawdust has lots of other uses, soaking up chemical spills, laying over mud at public events, livestock food, fuel and mulch.
