What is 'myth and what is truth'?

You realise that "common sense" is basically a sense about the common. Some things are way out there, but can still be true. Not everything is common.

It is a knowing inside my heart that teaches me truth...Over a period of time testing these "knowings" will let me know if I an right or wrong....The longer I search and desire to know truth, the more things are validated or disclaimed.

Read up on some things, gather some facts. I know that many things in the Christian Bible are in World History books used around the country in schools, so I assume those facts are true. I can also look at a lot of opposing evidence on evolution and creation and decide which has a better case.

To decide for yourself, you need to know the facts. Compare and contrast different ideas, figure out where things overlap, and where there is a hole in the story. Try going to some diferent churches to see what they teach, and decide for yourself what you believe and don't.

Smart question,

The "common sense" doesn't always lead for what's real..

There was a time when everybody thought the earth was flat.
There was a time everybody thought that earth is a center of the universe..
Even science doesn't always lead for pure truth,
take a brief look at the history of "physics" or "biology" for example, find you'll find that "TRUTH" changes with time as our understanding develops.

How do i "personally" decide?!!
I don't exactly decide.!
I always leave a door opened for another truth.

regards.

I weigh what facts I have, and what I feel in my heart. Sure I could be wrong, but I do not base everything I do on what "jesus would do". I feel I am truly an individual, and most of the time, I make very good decisions.

Fiction and facts have been disproved and proved throughout the years with surprising results. I just try to think outside the box.

"Truth" is simply what is useful. A myth can be truthful if it tells you something useful about the world, about society, about yourself. In fact, science, poetry, myth, etc, are all just different perspectives through which to look at the world. None are better or worse, they all give you a slightly different perspective.

Fact is part of the lexicon of science, fiction that of literature. Neither is better or worse. Just different.

It's as simple as tasting something and deciding if we like it enough to make it a part of our diet or never to touch it again.

The fictions we turn in to facts are those that best suit our own psyche and often, those which do most to assuage our personal fears about the universe in which we live, our role within it while we are a part of it, and what happens when we depart from it.

truth for you may not be truth for me. there are things I believe to be true which you would consider false and vice versa. free will was given to us by THE DEITY and man was given a brain to use in order to discover and develop. those who have similar belief systems band together thus creating a basic culture and society even though there will always be individual thoughts and ideas in the culture and society. those who have extremely different ideas will be considered dievant and punished by the other members of the culture and society.

Ask a scientist. They seem convinced that if 2,000 beings, things or creatures in a controlled setting exhibit the same behavior or pattern against a variable, then it is law and gospel. No room for deviation. Then it's labeled a FACT. And woe unto anyone who refutes it.
