They promise peace once everyone joins their religion, but this is a lie also since then they turn on each other and begin murdering each other over doctrinal minutiae. Let's face it, the kind of people that believe in invisible beings without evidence don't need much convincing that invisible beings hate the enemy and want them dead.

God promises us a personal peace in our hearts, and I thank Him for it. Religion and christianity are not always the same. Sometimes, war is necessary. It's tragic for everyone, but sometimes it has to be. War is not the same thing as murder. In the case of Hitler, that was less a war than an extermination, which is murder. And Hitler could not have been christian, and still done those atrocious things.

Because religion is a lot like politics, and you know that politicians only make promises so that people will elect them, but they never keep them. Religion makes promises to appeal to those who feel adrift in life and feel a need to be given guidance and a goal to strive for, so they'll have more followers and consequently increase their own power as institutions. People tend to care more about the goal rather than the path, and religions promise a very rewarding goal as long as you stay on the path that they choose for you. It's a very effective way of keeping people under control, and to blind them to that fact. But of course that there are always those of strong minds and will that do not conform to that, and as history shows us, religion usually procedes to persecute them and label them as heretics, evil witches and devil worshippers who have fallen from the grace of a loving Dog that will condemn them to burn and suffer the most atrocious torments in Hell for all eternity. I'm sorry if I was too specific and addressed a certain religion more than others.

Well the main reason why is because everyone has there own religion and beliefs and they think theirs is the best so they kill other people for not believing in what they do.
If there was only one religion and we all agreed to that one religion then there would be no need to kill other people of different faith.
The freedom of religion is the root of all evil and has always, always been justification for war.

No religion on earth will bring war, it is our interpretation and self interest that causes all the mayhem, unfortunately the clergy has been responsible for all the troubles. When all the religions preach peace yet there is violence, it is a clear evidence of clergy not doing there job right. If all of us follow our true religion i am sure we will have peace and harmony on earth.

I have some corrections. Hittler did not commit holocaust against his fellow christian. Hittler hates Jews who were living in Germany because the Jews controlled the economy of Germany to their advantage. Hittle himself is partly Jewish. But now, the Jews themself commit attrocities (similar to Hittler) against the Palestines and Lebanese.
Do not blame religion for any crisis in any part of the world. It is all caused by the greed of humans and nothing got to do with religion.

It's because of this:
"I'm right, you're wrong. This is what I believe! You better believe it too or I'll blow your head up!"
To the post above me: She didn't say that. And you're one of those people who might start wars touting your religion in their faces.
To the post below me: Where did you find that freakin statistic? More children were aborted than the number of dead in both World Wars, Vietnam War, Korean War, both Iraqi Wars, all the civil wars in the whole world, the Crusades, Japanese Shogun wars, European medieval wars, etc?

I don't know of any religion that promises peace. Christianity promises peace in your heart, and that I have - for the last 15 years. Go well, and god Bless!

first religion and a relationship with God are two different things. God promises us a personal peace inside during times of trouble but he never promises a peaceful life. religion on the other hand does tend to cause splits and divisions leading to catastrophe Seek God not religion
